I was trying to sign a free agent whose status bar was already completely red. Another team had offered him a contract in the low 20 points range. I decided to try to sign him, and put in several bids. I eventually stopped when it was around 45 points and I still hadn't passed the max offered by the other team. He signed with the other team. I checked, and his contract per year for that other team was in the low 20 points range. If I offered him 45 points per year, shouldn't he have signed for at least that with the other team? If not, this creates a loophole where you can set the max bid at, say, 300 points and know that you'll get the player the moment their status bar goes completely red, unless some team is willing to destroy their budget for one player.
