Sadly (& I don't know why) when I uploaded 11.06 & tried to run it,it corrupted my Opening Day.mog file - basically it tried to create a backup & failed & shut down the game & when I tried to re open it was a never ending crash >forcing me to unistall & re-install

(Obviously I sent SM my Debugs + crash dump files but basically I lost all the work I had done upto now :( :( )

Wow. That seems like a pretty gigantic bug.

Can you use the original backup file to get your game back? (Remove -BACKUP from the file name in Explorer)

I'll test this when I get home, making sure to backup my original file first.

Nope I have DE NADA (WHAT is worse when I re downloaded 11.04 from SM Order it still was corrupted --- runtime error at XXXXXXXXX - I didnt note the X's) :(

I am having to use Beta

Did you uninstall?

Sounds like I'm going to back up my entire folder before trying this out.

Yes - I am trying to re download as we "speak" - anyhows here is how it worked :

I was editing on line* "stadium stats" & then BM said RUN TIME ERROR at XXXXXXX - IT shut down the game BEFORE a backup was made & corrupted Opening day mog.I removed BOTH files from BM folder but still was corrupted (so it goes deeper than the mog file :( & because I had edited all players vitals & lowered their ratings due to the Batting & Co csv creating a 2007 MLB start date......

* using IE

What do you mean you were editting online stadium stats? That you had both IE and Mogul open, editting the stadiums in Mogul?

Okay well, FRS, I think you'll have to try to duplicate this once you get your Mogul working again, or remember the exact steps you took when this happened.

I've opened a game in 11.06, used the auto-sort, saved, and reloaded Mogul and it ran fine. I've reopened the game, used the stadium editor, saved, and no crash and Mogul reloaded fine. I've editted players and saved and nothing.

So, this is gonna be hard to find - if it's anything more than a one-time random corruption for some reason.

For what it's worth, I had IE open the entire time...

No CHANCE lol

I was flipping back & forth from IE to BM & that is when RUN TIME error occurred ..... which then corrupted the BM09 because it could NOT save completely the mog file nor create a back up (ie like a flash or when you comp goes down)

Was the run-time error from IE or Mogul?

Well, same thing happened to me. I think. For me, though, it happened when Itunes opened as a result of my ipod being connected. It wasn't called a run-time error, but an application error, and Mogul crashed, and it goes up to 38% when opening a game before crashing. I tried starting a new game, and it crashed there too, with the progress bar approximately where 38% would be. Luckily, I at least saved my .mog files. I also made a copy of the baseball mogul folder, and opening the game from THAT folder works fine, so something inside the specific Mogul folder when the crash happens gets corrupted....

And I think I know what it is - the .dmp file thats created. After taking the .exe from my backup folder and putting it into the original folder, I noticed that the .dmp file was still in the original folder. I deleted it, loaded the game, and everything worked fine.

I really have no idea what CAUSES the crash...and I'm guessing it's going to pop up randomly while I'm testing things out, so we'll see. Nonetheless, this seems pretty major.

I think that IE (or in your case ITunes) creates the run time error & THAT it affects Mogul which cannot save either the Primary file nor the back up in time - which then affects the BM file entirely - better leave 11.06 alone as the issue didnt happen with 11.04

I'm going to attempt again to see if loading Itunes screws with Mogul again.

Nope, this time, nothing happened.

However, this was just simply opening Itunes, not letting my ipod open it when I connect.

Well I re un-installed,re downloaded ,re installed & tried again .2 things:

1) When IE or Firefox is open it crashes with the following - RUN TIME error 203 at 636E3EFD --- & does it every time I want to open a new game or my opening day mog (after a certain unspecified time) ;

2) when the Net browser is closed it will allow me to create a new game BUT very very slowly & eventually re downs when I open a browser & flick to & forth.

I am still using BM 11.04 but the corruption is deep & out of interest should I get the same download as previous ? I mean I have retained screenshots/old mog files etc etc even when I install a new "version" of BM09

I can't see a single change in the code between 11.04 and 11.06 that would cause something like this. I only made AI and interface changes. If you have repro steps, please let me know.

Thanks,

Clay

Yeah, that's the real tough thing with this. I've been using 11.06 since that first crash I mentioned above, and I've had zero problems. I haven't really been opening and closing other programs while Mogul is open, though.

Since going back to 11.04 I ve had zero problems (but have continually saved after editing 10/15 players at a time just out of "scarediness" (not the right word but you get the meaning);)

The only change Ive noted is Ive lost "somewhere" the Clay Dreslough batter at the start of game (I cannot screenshot this as it is before opening the game.)

It was definately an issue with IE & Mogul being opened & closed simultaneously which lead to the Run Time Error & the corruption/crashes.

Does the issue also occur with Firefox? If not, I'm cool...

I haven't had it occur with IE. The one time it happened, it coincided with my ITunes opening.

I dont know, honestly,I had Firefox (for BMO play) & IE (for editing purposes) open when it happened - I assume it was IE because that closed which corrupted the file (or the other way round).

No probs Justin I just didn't want to give out the wrong info -- I prefer to be coy as I don't want to be blamed for anything :o
