arent sql database/servers supposed to be robust?

because the list for the index page needs to update in order to change. As soon as someone posts something else (other than simply voting on a poll), then it'll change on the index page.

well, I probably should say that it's giving vBulletin hiccups... you're right, the SQL server itself probably doesn't even notice. The vBulletin software tracks threads/posts itself as well, though (for pagination, formatting, etc...).
