BM has problems with players who did some pitching early in their career. When I looked at the 1901 roster of Baltimore, the following are listed as pitchers in the minors as in 'MLB' (rather than AAA, AA, etc.) though some of the players with this problem are listed in AA, but below R.

Jack Dunn (http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/dunnja01.shtml)

pre-1901 - P 127G, other 22
career - 3B 143G, P 142G, SS 98G, OF 59G, 2B 35G

Cy Seymour (http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/seymocy01.shtml)

pre-1901 - P 139G, OF 53G
career - OF 1333G, P 140G

Roger Bresnahan (http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bresnro01.shtml) (best catcher of the deadball era, HoFer)

pre-1901 - P 6G, C 1G, CF 1G
career - C 974G, OF 281G, 3B 42G, 1B 33G, 2B 28G, P 9G, SS 8G

Other teams have this problem. Other players (starting a game in 1901) I found are:

Cozy Dolan (http://www.baseball-reference.com/d/dolanco01.shtml)
Nixey Callahan (http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/callani01.shtml)
Zaza Harvey (http://www.baseball-reference.com/h/harveza01.shtml) (though he really could be either)
Emil Frisk (http://www.baseball-reference.com/f/friskem01.shtml)
Joe Yeager (http://www.baseball-reference.com/y/yeagejo01.shtml)
Jim Jones (http://www.baseball-reference.com/j/jonesji01.shtml)

I am reporting this as a bug since the game recognizes something is going on (based on their odd placement on the roster), but just doesn't seem to know the correct thing to do about it.

Yeah I'd noticed this also...never crossed my mind to make a bug report. Emil Frisk makes one heck of a pitcher, though. In BM08 I had him lead the AL in ERA in 1901 and then wins in 1902. And he hit like a beast.

Nixey Callahan (http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/callani01.shtml)
Emil Frisk (http://www.baseball-reference.com/f/friskem01.shtml)
Joe Yeager (http://www.baseball-reference.com/y/yeagejo01.shtml)

These guys were still primarily pitching in 1901.

Just started a game in 1902: Bresnahan and Seymour are correct. Callahan and Yeager were still primarily on the mound (http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php?t=156800), no problems here. Frisk not in the Majors. Dunn is still a problem.

1903: Dunn fixed. Callahan and Yeager still on the mound; both should be at 3B.
