I was thinking it would be a neat idea if we had a thread just to talk about whatever. I dunno if you guys agree with me, but it could be pretty neat.

That's how most of our threads become unstitched, anyway!

not quite what i meant, i meant more along the lines about just talking about going on in the world and where you are or whos in jail or what not. So basically it is like a thread that has a bunch of threads in it. and ohms, i would have to say pie and cake are equal. provide a logical reason whiy one is better.

But, it is large and more easily discernable as a microchip...or perhaps a failing stoplight? Or like a Lego sculpture.

I don't particularly like the rainbow effect either... even though patterned wafers really do look that way. I don't know...

Does anybody know what guitar that Neil Diamond currently plays?

I heard it this morning, had a gorgeous rich tone, more like a 12-string acoustic, altho these old eyes could discern only 6 strings on the instrument.

My guess is six string

Alloutwar
05-04-2008, 05:42 PM
on a 12 string, the strings are doubled up so close together, that if you are more than a foot away it looks like just 6 strings. They're just octaves, after all.

If you want to know if it's a 12-string, look at the headstock - the number of tuning pegs is a much better indicator of strings.

Neil typically plays just chords, and no loead or intense plucking, so a 12-string would be possible. But the rich tone may be more from reverb and great amplification systems.

I believe it was an acoustic guitar...I could detect no cables, connections, whatever.

Besides, I was more interested in the make of guitar -Fender; Gibson: Rokkeman; etc.

Alloutwar

Ahh. Well, I checked out Wikipedia and www.NeilDiamond.com, no info on what types he uses.

Most high-class performers that play acoustic will have a wireless amp on their back, sometimes small enough to hide next to the guitar strap. I had them at shows 8+ years ago - my guitarist could run through the (very small) crowd, no wires, but he came through the speakers big and loud.

Rongar
05-04-2008, 09:33 PM
Aha! ...that could be the answer...ain't technology wunnerful? I mean the guitarists even run thro the crowds, nowadays...me, I just used to dance round my Mom (my audience), whilst strumming.

Love that wireless amp effect, if that's what it is...thanks for your input,AOW.

I think about that a lot, Kev. I love studying the universe, what stars are made of...I think the most amazing thing is that the individual atoms from the beginning of the universe are in us...and eventually, might return out there.

I study a lot about galaxies and collilsions and how all that happens. I love to look up at the sky, see a star shining brightly, and realize that the light I am seeing is already thousands of years old. Scary.

I am with you. Space and the universe amaze me. Kevarms, this is a thread for whatever so ya this fits in great. Anyone else amazed by how a small peice the size of aq hand from a white star would have 100,00 times or so more density then anything else that size. All out, I also think its neat that when you see the stars you see them as they are years ago, like a time machine. Now I am starting to sound like some sceintist/philosipher on the discoverey channel so I think I will stop. On a different note, any one else watch survivor man? Think you could go out their on your own in the middle of no where and do your own camera work and stuff? That guy is unbelievible. The other day he was eating animal testicles and stuff that I would never do.
