9 year contracts?

Are 9 year contracts available? I thought 7 years is the max, but during my 1st free agent bidding I saw 8 and 9 year contracts offered. Then our league suffered an internal malfunction(timeout error #5). The reason I saw them is I offered Troy Glaus a 9 year contract, who wouldn't want a 25 year old power hitting 3b'er for 9 years. Then everyone else got crazy, next thing I knew Barry Bonds at age 37 was getting an 8 year contract offer. Not sure if this is a bug, if this caused the problems, or if this is an option I just didn't know about.
