In the Sports Mogul League run by Ariel, I GM the Cinci Reds. They had the worst record in the NL and 3rd worst overall. I spent in the middle of the pack ranking from 15th to 18th in Farm spending. The season is over and I'm looking forward to seeing my amateur draft having one on of the worst records and having spent some money on the Farm club I am hoping for some promising players. This is what I got
A 25 year old Rookie catcher (I already have four on the roster). Who has never hit over .255 with avg defense.
Next.....
A 19 year old Rookie LF that hit .203 with no power in AA and a range factor of 2.03...
Next... Pitcher who in AA has a 6-8 record and is 3 of 4 in saves.

My understanding is that if a team sucks and has a bad year they pick higher in the draft order. This is obviously not the case........!!!!!!!!!!

By the way KC with the worst record in the league spent ZERO POINTS AND DRAFTED 12 ROOKIES!!!!!!!!

Seattle with the 2nd worst Record..... Spent the second most on the FARM CLUB and got 6 Rookies...

I spend in the middle I get 3 .. two of them I'll eventually cut by the looks of it and a fringe closer prospect.

Please explain how a small market team is expected to get any better if you stack EVERYTHING against them..........including your game engine!!!

(mod note: edited for language- calm down)

Um, not to drop some more in your hat, but if you don't spend more on your farm, you're not going to develop the prospects that you drafted in years past. YOU have nothing to do with the amatuer draft at all. YOU only deal with farm spending, in order to work your rookies. And from my experience, You get what you pay for.

First of all, your farm spending is determined by your average farm spending for the past 162 regular season games.

Getting a higher pick makes some difference, but not too much. You didn't spend much on farm; I'm not surprised you didn't receive that high quality rookies.

Also, the number of rookies depends on how much room is on your roster, etc., and how much you spend on farm.

KC probably had very few players on its roster, so it received more draft picks, most of which probably were bad.

But you can't judge by what their farm ranking is now, as it could have been #1 the whole season and was changed to 0 in October.

Did you check or are you just regurgitating the old line????

I Said in the post if you will read it again I spent in the middle of the pack the whole year....

I didn't spend??????!!! Umm ok... You lose alot of games you pick higher in the draft order.. Right????

I had 15 open spots....Is that enough?????

Did you check this out or are you dismissing my bug report without checking?

I don't think you read my post....I spent in the middle of the pack ranking from 15th to 18th in Farm spending.

Middle of the pack all year...

Are you speaking for BMO? Or are you just giving me the same old line?

I think Tom was quoting an old post of his.

He spends a lot of time on the boards, and consequently, ends up answering the same questions again and again.

So in this case, I think he was just using an old post, rather than typing it all in new again.

One thing he might have been getting at -- were you in 15-18 position all season? Some people increase spending midway through the season (or later), so their farm club will still be improving, even though the team's spending is 15.

And how is your scouting? Perhaps if you aren't spending a lot there, the rookies could be better than you think.

I actually just posted that; he spammed his post to a private league forum and 2 public forums, and that's what I typed up in response to his identical post in a private forum. My he then had the same exact response in that thread...this was my follow-up:

I Said in the post if you will read it again I spent in the middle of the pack the whole year.... Don't expect that great rookies if you're ranked 15th in farm. You might get C rookies instead of F rookies (being ranked last), but you won't be getting A rookies.

Having a poor record gives you a higher pick, but doesn't make up for the fact you didn't spend too much on farm. That's what really matters.

Did you check this out or are you dismissing my bug report without checking? Your post doesn't seem like a bug report; it seems like a frustrated rant because you expected the next Hank Aaron with a mediocre farm spending. I don't see a bug anywhere...and what do you want me to "check"?

Wow, I had to reply to this message...

Why do you think you are going to get a great pick when you are in the middle in farm spending? I have always tried to be in the top 5 and have always received good prospects regardless of how my team did.

The rules make it very clear: The more you spend, the better player you will get

James had a good point. How much are you spending on your scouts. Perhaps you do have a good player and don't even know it.

Even if you did get a good pick, he wouldnt develop if you are 15th in farm. The forums are full of hints and tips. Stop attacking the moderators and learn the game.
