From the creators of Best Mogul Baseball 2008 league version, and The People's Sim League, two highly successful 2008 leagues, brings you the next name in the Mogul Sports World:
Best Mogul Baseball 2009 version
That is correct. We are now using the 2009 game, and decided to restart. That means all teams "untouched." Game files are edited so far to work in a long term league(although we will probably edit it more in the coming days). Some things we offer:
New teams...fully untouched by a former GM
Up to date moves...Edmonds on Chicago, etc.
Free agent rules to promote long term success
In game budgets...whatever you earn in the game, you keep
Newbie trade restrictions...sick of newbies coming in and trading stars, thus ruining the league...well we will be assigning harsher rules to newbies for a couple days until we are sure they have some kind of game plan
Fair ratings...no more 20+ teams with 20+ 90 overalls
All the cool things we had from BMB 2008
Moderator openings right now
A lot more...
HOWEVER, RIGHT NOW, ONLY FORMER MEMBERS OF BMB CAN SIGN UP RIGHT NOW
With that said, all "newbies" can start signing up starting tommorow at 2:40 Eastern P.M., so c'mon on down tommorow to make history with us!

We have eight teams left to choose from(and since I am taking last available team, that means we have room for seven more GM sign ups)
Baltimore Orioles-The Orioles are in a packed division with the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and the emerging Rays, but they do have a lot to offer in potential. They have two amazingly talented young outfielders in Adam Jones, and Nick Markakis. They are a good team for a GM looking for a challenge
Chicago White Sox-The White Sox are the only A.L. Central team left, which is looking to be an amazingly competitive division. Their offense is led by 30 home run potential man Nick Swisher, and with ABSOLUTE studs like Javier Vazquez and Bobby Jenks in the pitching staff, this team is pretty fearsome
Oakland Athletics-One of only two A.L. West teams available, this Billy Beane styled team is perfect for that "small ball" style Mogul GM! Even though their offense is pretty "blahtastic", their rotation is just amazing, with Rich Harden(a potential Cy Young this year), and two high-mid 80s overalls behind Harden. Also can't forget about Huston Street, a top three closer in the league. Get this team some hitters, and they are World Series contenders!
Texas Rangers-Not expected to be a playoff contender right away, Texas is a good long term project.
Philladelphia Phillies-Can you believe this WORLD SERIES contender is still available? Neither can we. Their offense is just magneficent. Possibly has the second best leadoff man in Jimmy Rollins, and possibly the best second baseman in Chase Utley. Also Ryan Howard is a pure masher(40+ home runs anyone?). Hamels, Myers, and Lidge are...well Hamels, Myers, and Lidge, but the rest of the pitching is questionable. The pitching will tell if they can win a championship
Washington Nationals-Definetly a rebuilding project, and a few years off, but that is always fun. Plus they have Ryan Zimmerman...how cool is Z?
Houston Astros-Berkman, Oswalt, Valverde, and the others make this a very veteran club. Not expected to be a playoff contender, a good manager who posts lineups when needed can change that thought
San Diego Padres-Jake Peavy...need we say more?

Updated file with first completed trade, lots of depth charts, finances, etc. We are looking to start either this Sunday, or at latest this Monday, so come join up to a league that will be a ton of fun. We made this league to be a fun league where you can't horde a ton of great players so fun parity should be very viable in the near future

We recently had two of the remaining four teams get picked up, so that means only two teams are left. Here is expanded information on both teams
Chicago White Sox-The White Sox are the only A.L. Central team left, which is looking to be an amazingly competitive division. Their offense is led by 30 home run potential man Nick Swisher(87 overall), and have two "ready now" guys in Josh Fields(81/86), and Carlos Quentin(79/86). And you don't have to talk to them about pitching woes with their ABSOLUTE studs like Javier Vazquez and Bobby Jenks in the pitching staff, this team is pretty fearsome.
Washington Nationals-Definetly a rebuilding project, and a few years off, but that is always fun. Plus they have Ryan Zimmerman(86/90)...how cool is Z? Not to mention that Lastings Milledge is right behind him at an 85/90 rating. Chad Cordero(84/86) is also pretty alright
This league has the potential to be one of the top 2009 leagues there are. No players are overrated here. If you have a 90s overall player, that player deserves to be rated in the 90s. Are you sick of lackluster efforts from fellow GM's? Well we will be kicking out the GMs who come on the forums once in a while and NEVER do anything. Are you tired of newbie GMs coming in and trading their best players to your divisional rival for beans, and then they leave the league two days later? Well we were also, so now we have much stricter trade moderation, and "newbie trade probation." Are you sick of fellow league teams hording all the good players, and never having to worry about losing them? Well with our rules, teams will not be able to keep their whole team in place. Are you tired of big market teams controlling all the league's cash flow? Well with our new taxes and 1/2 cash rule, that shouldn't be a problem. Are you tired of a staff team that just doesn't seem to care? If so, come join us
Just two teams left!

RedsoxRockies will be hosting an AIM chat that will start at 8 PM Eastern Time tonight. Just an update
One team was over the 25 million mark in cash(most a team can have), so I edited that. Edited a few payroll budgets(nothing that earth shattering). Did one resigning
Now, I may not have been clear on this before we started, and since I couldn't commish the league this week, I really didn't have an opportunity to tell you guys this, but if you didn't know already, PAYROLL BUDGETS ARE LEAGUE MADE. Before every season is played(like in spring training), I will manually set each team's budget. Budgets should be very close year to year(so if your budget for this year was 40 million, expect it to be close to the same for next season, although it may be a bit higher if you made the playoffs). So just a note on that. Since the league just started using this file, it is early enough to correct any payroll mistakes teams have done, so if you are way over your payroll budget in the game right now, get to dealin'

Lots of good fighting action. Nearly all 8 playoff races are close. The only one that isn't close is the NL East, where the well managed Mets are pretty much running away with things. But let's not sleep on the second place team, the Phillies. Could this year be 2007 part II?
Start thinking of whether you will be buying, selling, or staying put

Well we had some of our open teams get filled within the past few 24 hours, but seems like we need to get some new teams filled in. A total of five teams are open. Here is a little information on each team
Chicago White Sox-the White Sox are not having the best of seasons, to say the least. They are currently last in their division. With that said, they are untouched. They are like a brand new team. You build them the way you want to. All the stars are still on the team. Anderson, Vazquez, Thome, Jenks. You name him, he is on the team. They also have one of the BEST PEAK PROSPECTS in the league, who is Aaron Crow, who has a 98 peak!
Chicago Cubs-they are basically the total opposite than their A.L. counterparts. They are first in the central as of right now, but with that said, are serverly overbudget. Which was why the league has been forced to make them sell some of their high priced players. But after their trades go through, they should still have a great chance at securing a playoff spot, with players like Derek Lee, and Carlos Zambrano, and should finish the season without being in negative cash
Pittsburgh Pirates-currently only one game back of the wildcard, and with the Cubs being forced to sell, have a great shot at the division
San Diego Padres-not too much payroll room, but they are the perfect team for a GM that builds through "Billy Beane" style
San Fransisco Giants-club has a ton of payroll room, and two absolutely stud starters in Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain. Two players to build the team around no doubt

Officially into the second half of the season! Time for teams to buckle down, because this is going to be one **** of a wild ride
Nearly all teams still in the race! The only race that is kind of closed is the NL East with the Mets leading it by 10 games. But still 10 games is not an impossible number of games for the Phillies!
Yanks lead the East by one game over the Sawx, three plus on the Jays, six on the Rays, and the last place Orioles are still only ten out.
Tigers hold an one game lead on the surging Indians, two games on the Royals, four plus on the Twins, and only nine on the last place White Sox
The A's hold onto an one game lead on the hot Mariners, two plus on the surprising Rangers, and shockingly the Angels are eleven games back as of now
As afore mentioned, the NL East is not too close right now because of the well managed Mets
The GMless Cubbies hold the head reigns in the NL Central, but the Pirates and 'Crew are right there at four and four plus games back(respectively). The rest of the Central pack is pretty far back though
Arizona and Colorado are battling for the rights to the West title
And boy and how, the wild cards will undoubtingly come down to the last week of the season. That is how packed those races are
Don't forget. You guys who are still in some kind of race, either be it division or wild card, don't forget that one week of leaving an injuried player in your lineups could make you lose a playoff spot in the future!
Cubs(playoff spot holding), Pirates(playoff spot holding), White Sox(top 3 pick next draft favorites), Padres(Peavy holding team), and Giants(two stud arms) are available. Come down and join us. Link is in one or more of the above posts in this thread
defense
06-26-2008, 01:01 AM
Alright. It finally appears that most of our races have one or two teams pulling away from the pack. However, to the teams falling out, don't give up yet! There is still plenty of time for a huge comeback!
Oh, and what a race the A.L. Central is. Only 6.5 games seperate first to worst. There are some divisions where the second place team is more than 6.5 games back of the leader, yet alone the last place team. Talk about good stuff
Cubbies were taken today, but Pads, Giants, White Sox, and playoff contending Pirates open

Some interesting cash info. Florida gained about 11 million dollars in cash. Yankees lost 25 million in cash(wowzers). Colorado is almost out of debt.
So this should "help" small market teams. You should have got some cash in this, so use it! Go over your budget. If you now have 25 million in cash, go over your budget. I wouldn't suggest using all the money, but go over it by 15-20 million dollars. Cash is what allows you to go over budget.
Free agency starts Saturday, so please post contract/offseason resignings! If you don't, you will lose all non-arby guys
Now we do have some open teams. They are:
Baltimore Orioles-basically an untouched team. Still has Markakis, Roberts, Jones, and the rest of the gang. Not a bad budget at all either(84 million dollar payroll budget)
Cleveland Indians-just like the Orioles, basically untouched. All the stars, and non-stars are still there. Sizemore, etc. all there
Philadelphia Phillies-they traded Utley, but still have ALL other stars. Howard, Hamels, Rollins...you name it. Really big market also
Possibly Toronto also

Alright
Here is an updated file. Couple a couple of the first offseason trades completed. A couple pre-offseason resignings done
Free agency starts early to late evening Saturday. Looking to be a very craptastic offseason along with the wallets of many teams opening up. A crappy free agency + teams with money to spend=overpaying. Don't fall into the trap of drastically overpaying for cruddy talent.
We will probably be doing winterball, if I can find that **** link. More info on that will be posted in the up-coming days
I ususally like to post expanded descriptions of open teams here and there, so here goes nothing:
Milwaukee Brewers: The Brewers had a top five general manager this season. Sadly, he had plans pop up, so we are looking for a general manager for them. The team is in really decent condition. Just missed winning the wild card by two games this year. Five hitters in their lineup have atleast an 88 overall, including Prince Fielder, Corey Hart, among others. Braun signed long term, so don't worry about losing him in the future. Their good hitters who are up for arby such as Fielder, Hart, and Hardy are only up to arby now, so they will be on the team next year despite if we get a GM for them before the offseason resigning period ends or not. Ben Sheets was signed long term by the previous general manager. Their best starter is Yovani Gallardo, who is a 90/93 22 year old. The bullpen needs some work, and they don't have the best payroll budget in the league, but they are set up beautifully for the future
Cleveland Indians: This franchise is coming off of a very underperforming season. Falling third in the division behind the Tigers and Royals. They have possibly the best young pitcher in the game in Fausto Carmona, who is a 94/97 starter. Atleast 80 in all four of the major starter vitals. Sizemore and Martinez lead the offense, who are amazingly gifted with the bat. Two great bullpen pieces also on the team. Again, like the Brewers, they have a below average payroll budget, but definetly have great pieces, and with some work, can be World Series champions.
Baltimore Orioles: All their great pieces are still there. The offense is set up by leadoff extradinaire Brian Roberts. Roberts has an 83 contact vital, 85 speed rating, and 82 eye. Not to mention the two studs they have in the outfield. Nick Markakis is a 92/96, and Adam Jones is an 88/92. All 80s pitchers in the rotation to boot!
Philadelphia Phillies: This team has gone through some changes, such as Utley heading to Los Angeles, but most of the other cores are here. Ryan Howard looks to be able to be leaned on to drive in those runs, with his 96 power, and 90 eye! Cole Hamels(90/95), and Ervin Santana(88/90) might be one of the best one-two punches in the league. Big payroll budget also. Should be able to fill in the holes in their team in free agency(pending they can knab a general manager)
So that is it for the open teams. We would like to atleast get half of the open teams filled in by the time free agency starts. We are a pretty good league. Pretty dedicated staff, revenue sharing, all that great stuff.
So hope you join up, and if you have any questions/comments/concerns/suggestions, feel free to AIM me at kyleokposofan

Only 2 sims left races are getting tight
Yanks lead east by 15.5 over Tampa, 16.5 over Boston, and 22.5 over Toronto
KC leads the central by 3 over Minny and 15.5 over Cleveland
Texas leads the west by 6.5 over Seattle and 7.5 over LA
Seattle leads the wild card by 1 over LA, 6 over Minny, 8 over Tampa, 9 over Boston, and 15 over Toronto
Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, and Oakland have been eliminated.
Mets lead the east by 10.5 over Washington, 12.5 over Philly, and 16 over Atlanta
Brewers lead the central by 11 over Houston, 19 over St. Louis, 22 over Cincy, and 25 over Chicago
Pads lead the west by 3.5 over the Backs, 14 over Colorado, and 19 over LA
Dbacks lead the wild card by 1.5 over Washington, 2 over Houston, 3.5 over Philly, 7 over Atlanta, and 10 over St. Louis.
Florida, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco have been eliminated.
7 teams eliminated and about 19 teams that still have a chance at making it, the other 4 are longshots and will probably be eliminated soon.

We are simming the rest of the regular season tommorow! AIM chats for the rest of the sims this week. Tommorow's AIM chat will be at 9 PM EST. Be there if you can.
Spoilers, set your lineups/rotations/bullpens for tommorow's sim if they need to be changed! Playoff race(s) may depend on how you perform tommorow
New York clinched in this sim. The other New York team looks like they will clinch within the next five games simmed
Kansas City and Minnesota will look like it will come down to the final week. Milwaukee looks like they will clinch within the next five games simmed
Three teams look capable of winning the West. That should be a good one. San Diego and Arizona look to battle for the NL West.
The AL wild card looks to be down to the three teams from the West. Four teams still appear to have a chance at the NL wild card, with Atlanta with longshot odds

We are looking to get the Cincy Reds a "rebuilding" general manager. A general manager who can actually forsee a rebuilding process, and would be willing to put up with 2-3 years of subpar seasons without totally ruining them financially. They also have some pieces in place for a rebuilding process(you just have to make sure they develop properly, and get other good rebuilding pieces!)

Ok, a couple teams open until their former GMs prove they are worthy to be kept as current GMs. So if you sign up for them before(if) their former GM proves to be worthy of GM'ing them, you get the team! Not to mention that the offseason here(time to turn pretenders into contenders), so the time to sign up is now!
Toronto Blue Jays
I honestly want to get this team good GM'ship once it for all. They are probably in the toughest division in the league, and without a GM with a plan, they are going to get left behind the other four teams that are either very talented, or are doing a great doing a great job rebuilding. The Jays have a 92 million dollar payroll, which is considered to be pretty big-market sized. The offense is led by franchise face Vernon Wells(90/90). Wells has a 92 contact rating, an 88 power rating, and 93 fielding rating. They still have other impact players on offense, such as Shane Victorino(85/85), but truth be told, the majority of the lineup has to be rebuilt. Their rotation is the opposite though. They possibly have a top three rotation in the league. Check out their top four starters: Roy Halladay(93/93), Johan Santana(93/93), Shawn Hill(91/91), and Aaron Harang(88/88). In the bullpen is Jesse Carlson(86/86), and BJ Ryan(88/88). Want some impact rookies for next year? Look no further than catcher Jose Morales(81/86), and shortstop Sean Rodriguez(83/86). Top prospects include Yohermyn Chavez(Lookie here for photo! (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j291/pie1231/BMBBW-1.jpg)), Dean Withers(61/98), and Scott Parslow(67/95).
Chicago White Sox
The White Sox are similar to the Blue Jays, except their payroll budget is a bit better, but their MLB talent is worse. With an 100 million dollar payroll budget, the Sox offense is led by DH Pat Burrell(86/86). Brian Anderson(88/89) has a better rating, but he is there for his defense, not his bat. The catcher Jeff Clement(86/86) isn't bad, but the rest of the offense is nothing to write home to mom about. Their top two starters are not bad(Jeff Francis 93/93 and Eric Hurley 90/96). The rest of the pitching is pretty stink-tastic though. Impact rookies for next season include starter Julio Cesar Pimental(80/86), and infielder Shelby Jones(79/80). Top peakers include Jay Loewenstein(Click here for photo (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j291/pie1231/BMBBW-2.jpg)), and starter Aaron Crow(67/97).
Pittsburgh Pirates
This team resides in one of the most "parity lived" divisions in the league, so in term of divisions, this team has a chance to compete next season with proper management. Although the payroll budget is small(53 million), this team can pack a punch. The offense is built around third base rookie sensation Neil Walker(85/93). Their rotation currently holds one of the best young pitchers in the game: Brian Duensing(92/94). His vitals are amazing. He has ratings of: 81 for endurance, 97 for control, 86 for power, and 79 for movement. Can someone say Greg Maddux with power? Not to mention he can throw five different pitches. Also in the rotation is the starter who they shelled out the $$ for this past offseason in Chris Young(92/92). Not to mention the future hall of famer Joe Nathan, who they have closing out games! Impact rookies for next year include starter Yoslan Herrera(80/80), starter Josh Outman(82/91), and reliever Austin Bibens-Dirkx(84/88). Top peak is 20 year old shortstop Tim Beckman(67/98).
Cincy Reds
Edwin Encarncion(88/88) leads the Reds offense at third base. Homer Bailey(88/95) is the franchise pitcher. Pedro Strop(92/94) is one of the best young relievers in the game today. Payroll budget is around 75 million. Impact rookies for next year include starters Daryl Thompson(82/86), Greg Reynolds(82/86), and Matt Dominguez(76/100!).
That is it for now! Sign up for one of those teams ASAP!

San Diego Padres(playoffs 2 out of our 3 seasons, pretty good financially, still has a lot of its good players like Jake Peavy, and also has Delmon Young and Houston Street)
Cincy Reds(has very good young pitchers, offense needs rebuilding, and there is no better time to rebuild an offense like the offseason!)
A little info about parity. In our three seasons, we've had over 40% of the league make it to the post season. And every season there has been a different championship team, which is good

alright, I am very very new to all of this, and would need a little help, and being a newbie, but I would like to sign up, and if Oakland is still available, I would like to be them.

You can still sign up for a team though, since there are a few open ones. We're in the year 2012. Just go here (http://z4.invisionfree.com/bestmogulbaseball/index.php?act=idx) and post in the sign up forum or give us a shout in the cbox.

Right now, Oakland isn't available, but the Phillies, Reds, Twins, and White Sox are. You can have your pick of the bunch

Same exact file as Moyer posted, except salary demands setting was corrected, for non-playoff teams(if they want to start posting offseason resignings)

I have a serious issue with this league. Not only was I active, but I built the Twins into a team with a lot of potential in the next five years and made the moves that the last GM forced me to make. And then without any warning was removed from the GM and removed from the forum with zero warning or reason why. I would like an explanation from someone as to why someone else is already manning my team and why this was done.

few Offseason Problems:
Boston
Andy Laroche No contract? you have a chance to fix this must be very soon... using the old file.
houston
signing people to 2 year deals before arby goes against your A/B charts they were signed to arby.
colorado
signing people to deals pre arby is against the rules passed 28 years old the players were signed to normal arby
some teams didnt win there arby bids should be a thread up for that
Cubs and Reds may be opened due to not posting resignings.

Draft
I did trades at the end of it to fix draft compensation picks, and to fix minor draft mistakes(I think I accidently mixed up Twins/Giants first rounders, so did that trade, fixed O's/Cubs 4th rounder mix up, fixed Cards/Royals/Astros 4th rounder mix up, etc.)
