First, I want to say I love the game and baseball in general. You guys have done an awesome job so keep up the good work. Just a note to you about some of the players. What I have noticed is that allot of the really good baseball players are not putting up numbers even close to their talent level after 2003??
Just to name a few of the stud players who are average 2004 and up are Lance Berkman, Manny Ramirez and Sean Casey. I have purchased them and others and their numbers stink where as some guy right out of triple A is twice as good? Please take a look at the really good veterans in the game and make some fixes. Thanks allot and looking forward to Football Mogul.

Hi, Horizon -

Thanks for the feedback.

Can I ask -- are these things happening every (or most) time you play the game?

Each time you start a new game, it reshuffles each player's abilities, so that sometimes the players will peak and decline very soon, other times they have several good years to go.

So depending how many new seasons you have played, it could be that you happen to have gotten seasons where Manny et al are already at their peaks and are starting to decline.

Cheers,
James

James, thanks for responding so soon. Right now I am playing a 10 year span with the TB Devil Rays and the Bosten Red Sox and Yankees have been very tough to compete with so I have tried to rob there teams of quality players and add them to mine to offset the difficulty. Anyway, Manny Ramirez for example is still very young along with the other players I have mentioned or should I say quality players such as these should put up good numbers up until atleast 35 years of age and they are putting up only average numbers at age 30-35 which makes no sense to me. I picked up Lance Berkman (who is a serious stud) at age 27 and for the next three years on my team he never batted over 280, hit only 20+ homers once and never had over 90 RBis. I ended up puting him on the bench and putting some guy out of AAA in Left who is awesome (I never even heard of him). I had seen Ramirez on the Bosox and was going to pick him up to rob them of talent in 2005 and noticed 2003 was his last good year. He did terrible in 2004 and so far in 2005 his numbers where not impressive at all. I have seen this with allot of quality players. In year 2007 I looked at Alex Rodriquez numbers (who is probably the best overall player in the game) and even his numbers where not right. His power was there but he had not hit over 300 in 5 seasons, this makes no sense to me but overall I am enjoying the game very much. Just out of curiosity could a patch even be made to help those more talented young players in the game stay talented for more than just 2003. As long as they are young or under 35 i see no reason why they should not put up great numbers???? Thanks for replying. If you want go into the 2006 season and check out some of the stud players who are still young (under 35) and see what their numbers are and you will see what I mean. Thanks.

I think James is right- it's just because of the randomized peak ages. If you want a more consistent simulation, turn on Simulation Mode when you start a new game.

It seems to me that most players peak in their 20's, not when they are 35. I wouldn't expect great numbers from someone who is 35 or older. Even getting someone at age 30 is a risk.

What version of BBM2K3 are you using?

In later patches we adjusted the talent levels of the new rookies in the game. We felt that the rookie batters were too good.

Try the most recent patch at
www.sportsmogul.com/patch

Or you can try one of the unofficial patches if you feel daring. There is a link from the patch page. Try playing with Rookies.ini if you want.

Poke around these boards and there should be some discussions about it. Check the Bugs forum.

Let me know what you learn.

Cheers,
James
