Okay, I feel I must defend this position: to be honest, I've never gotten a taste for most of 'those things that are an acquired taste'. Things I don't do and can't really stand:
- drink beer
- drink coffee
- smoke
- do drugs
- gamble
- religion
Honestly, I think all of them take too much time 'acquiring' the taste (or knowledge, rules, etc), which isn't really good to start with. Most of them can pollute your body and mind, leading to impaired health, a false sense of achievement or righteousness, a chemical-induced rush...and all of them take money, too. (Maybe I'm just too cheap.)
I am slowly developing a taste for some wines, and I LOVE all kinds of food (chocolate is probably my #1 vice, up there with...well, women, I guess). I occasionally partake in a fruity, 'girl' drink (froo-froo), like something in a coconut, or with a big fuzzy straw, and with fruit on the side or in the drink. I'll maybe do a wine cooler or Apple Martini once a month. But overall, alcohol is expensive (and taxed), high in calories, usually doesn't taste all that great, and can lead to impairment in judgement. Prolonged use can damage the liver and even brain cells. After seeing my dad drunk as a youngster...well, it's just never appealed to me.
Anyway...I know among 'regular guys' I'm strange (my god, especially now in NC), and most of the party/outing pictures of me are kind of funny. It usually goes
guy with beer
guy with beer
guy with beer
me, no beer
Parties are a lot more stressful when you don't really have anything in your hands.
Anyway, I guess that's my take on it. Sorry for the soapbox/diatribe.
</diatribe>

Other things I don't like:
- NASCAR, it's massive marketing, and people sporting Dale Earnhardt numbers with Angel Wings
- crummy downtowns in cities (Orlando, St Pete/Tampa)
- Advertising on TV, websites, buses, taxis, magazines, clothing, etc
- People that pay $35 for a shirt that has a designers name, thereby becoming a walking medium for advertising
- cities that don't recycle, or people that live in cities that do, and don't recycle
- I will second the previous poster on women, driving SUV's poorly, while on the cell phone (who are you talking to, at 7am on your morning commute? WHO!?)
- Wal-Mart, Bank of America, and other big conglomerate companies
- when my bank gets bought by a bigger bank
- Spending massive $$$ to buy a cruise, and having the ship's staff on a never-ending mission to grab more money from your pocket ($20 photos, on-board casino, mandatory tips, and suggested tips above that)
- People that claim to be very religious, but then are dicks in their personal life
- Country music, southern twang, and Telecasters (but don't get me wrong, I have a soft spot for Bluegrass and Alison Krauss)
- people that make piss-poor music, and the overwhelming amount of other people that buy it
- Steinbrenners
- any music show that involves choreography and dancers
- The obsession with hollywood stars, TMZ, the E! channel, Hilton/Lohan/Simpson, and the massive amount of time and resources wasted on covering them, printing the magazines, etc
- soaps, reality TV, and anyone that knows more about a TV show character than our presidents, chemical formulae, or their own APR on their credit card
- people that vote, without really feeling strongly or knowing the candidates well, just 'as their duty'
- people that make up their minds along party lines way, way, way before they know anything else
- the two party system, the power of lobbyists and rich americans and companies
- far-wing speakers, radio hosts, and Faux News personalities that continue to make people think their assumptions and biases are somehow justified, and that they do not need to see the other side, learn, or improve themselves or their understanding in any way
- Andy Rooney
- Dogs - the licking, the smell, the constant neediness and attention, walks, and wanting to eat and eat and eat until they explode
- Blondes, blue eyes, and chicks that are way too skinny
- guys with really, really skinny legs - those emo-musician im-so-artsy types that look like they need a sandwich bad
- people that have lots of kids - like 4, 6, 8? what the heck, people, overpopulation
- the fact that mandatory birth control has not yet been inacted- and that we do due dilgence, research, and screening before allowing couples to adopt, but any idiotic couple with pieces that fit can poop out unlimited kids, regardless of emotional health, stability, responsibility, and the ability to raise them well.
- pro-life movements that think every life is sacred, yet don't agree with the above, and don't think eggs or sperm are individually all that important
- arbitrary lines used to divide, such as the above, in alive vs. not alive, when in fact our current assumptions may later be proven wrong
- people that stick vehemently to assumptions, superstitions, and dogma that will (or already has) been proven false

i used to find it hysterical when a drummer i worked with , who was a no drink ,no smoke, vegetarian, would specifically tease me whenever i had a yen for midori.
My response was along the lines of threatening to force feed him a porterhouse and budweiser while puffing, erm, ciggy smoke at him. ;)
Basically we respected one anothers take on life and knew how to needle one another without it actually meaning a dang thing.
bottom line,
Your life, your choice.
my life , my choice.
i dont impose my life choice on others.

people who take themselves too seriously and/or think they are smarter than everyone else, and think that this somehow gives them the right to tell other people how to live their lives. as long as what you are doing is enjoyable to you and doesn't hurt others, you should be left alone to do what you want and you can tell those busybodies where they can get off.

Sorry if I 'dissed' NASCAR; my problem isn't so much the sport (sport?) itself, though I do think of it as wasting a lot of gas. Since moving to NC, it's just everywhere...it's unavoidable, in the news, every billboard, film tributes, blocking of downtown to host 'Speed Week'...it's somewhat incredible. I guess the marketing aspect is what bothers me most. And the Dale stickers with angel wings. I mean, Angel wings? I have yet to complete my dissertation in theology, but - doesn't it take some greater contribution to automatically assume sainthood??
I'm not going off about slack-jawed, wife-beating, tooth-missing yokels, or the whole redneck thing - I'm just stating a dislike. People dislike things I hold great affinity for - but it's a line of text on a message board, in a thread called 'I don't like', so I really can't get all that worked up.
judging from his dislikes - alloutwar

ahh, okay. thanks for the clarification.
Actually (and this is probably me going way overboard with environmentalism, but), I WAS thinking recently about all the bats used in baseball. Unlike say, guitars, which are made from a few pieces of wood, bats are all one piece...which makes them harder to manufactur without using most of a section of tree. And they have to be hard, old trees. So, that is a legitimate concern.
Although I figure we have whole tree farms in Kentucky or something dedicated to baseball bat production, like christmas tree farms or something. Does anyone know? If they're imported from the rainforest, I'm gonna be pissed.

I'm not going to give you advice here (I DESPISE when people try to 'help out' with dating advice.
