How closely does the Amateur Draft in BM follow the rules of the real major league baseball amateur draft?

For example, if I lose a top level player to free agency, do I receive a supplemental first round pick at the end of the round as well as a compensatory pick from the team I lose the free agent (one of their top picks, usually)?

No, there's no compensation picks in Mogul. It's just 6 rounds, unlike the real 50+ round draft.
