NO wait I will respond in a loving caring way. Ok, so the DH makes hitters careers last longer, but it takes away strategy in some peoples opinions. But, according to Jim leyland, it makes picthing strategy more complex, which I agree with. However, I like watching picthers hit, and it is a traditional part of the game. I, unlike Hank Steinbrenner, think it should be abbolished. However, I do not hate the rule

Hold on first I would like to point out that he said he wanted the DH to be abolished. Now onto your question.

Our stance on the Designated Hitter is that it is an unnecessary position added by the AL owners to help speed up the game. In 2006 Designated Hitters were making an average yearly salary of $5.59M (According to ESPN). That is money that could be spent else where, not spent on a guy who is either A). Old and not physically able to play a position or B). A player who lacks the skills to be an everyday fielder.

An arguement we have against it is that it takes away so much stretegy from the game of baseball. With a DH the only thing you have to worry about, in terms of taking out a Starting Pitcher, is just about his pitch count. While in the National League you have to worry about whether or not the Pitcher is about to bat, and you get more defensive changes like the double switch because you can't just sit a good bat on the bench because he can't play defense.

Also, when we are playing Little League we are preached to day in and day out about fundamentals like hitting, FIELDING, and throwing. We shouldn't give an alternative to players who aren't able to do the basic fundamentals of baseball and we sure as heck shouldn't give them almost $6M for a yearly salary.

That is the NL's stance on the DH.

RedSoxRockies is the presidential nominee. I am just a Veep. I defer to his leadership. However as stated even though we disagree on this issue the fact that we can have different opinions and still be unified on a ticket shows how concerned the AL party is for MLB and BM!

AL PARTY PLATFORM

1. We stand by how the AL has out performed the NL in Interleague Play and WS Play. As of 2008, the AL currently holds an all-time Interleague series advantage of 1,387-1,317. The AL holds a 58-45 WS advantage.

2. The Abolishment of the DH. Let’s do away with this insanity!

3. The AL believes in America! It’s in our name!

4. Every Post Counts! No more dissolution of posts, disappearing posts, etc. Read Every Post!

5. The AL is united for a Better BM. We believe the unity displayed by RedSox and Yanks fans in this campaign can bode well for a kindler, gentler BM forum.

What this shows is that despite differences of opinions RedSox Fans and Yankees Fans believe change is necessary and can unite for the good of the Party, BM and MLB. I am VERY COMMITTED to the cause. I believe the AL is superior to the NL in every way. I believe the AL has the good of BM in mind. When push comes to shove I would rather see an AL win then a DH. Look how often the AL has defeated the NL in head to head competition without the DH!

My Love for the Yankees while IRRATIONAL is in no way a reflection of my overall feeling for the AL. I have spoken against the DH in the past but this was before I realized how it saps the integrity of baseball (and hurts when it comes to votes.)

When the concept of an NL/AL election was first brought forth I thought it would be interesting and a fun idea. However it has quickly gotten out of control with more parties and so many threads I've lost count. Due to Real Life busyness though I will have to bow out of the AL party and the Veep Position effective immediately. I just don't have the Real Life time to devote to this growing cause. I wish RedSxoRockies well in the AL election. It was fun, however I am out. Again this is only due to RL needs right now.
