Can't search for posts by user

I click on a user's name, then click 'find all posts by this user'. It takes me to a screen that says "there is nothing found for this search."

I think there was a glitch, so I try to search again, and it says 'this forum requires you to wait 10 seconds between searches. Please try again in 10 seconds." So I try it again, and either it's too soon (please try again in 4 seconds) or it says the same message as the first time.

It's been happening to me intermittently for a few days now.

Yah, it just worked for me too. On myself, then on another user. Same thing happened before - like I said, it's intermittent.

I've never actually tested metrics on this myself but supposedly searches take a whole lot of resources. It's apparently bad enough that some forums actually turn off the search feature completely (CatKnight can back me on this).

The vBulletin software has searches on a really low priority, so what's happening is that the search is timing out. It doesn't actually help with the problem, but I figured that I'd give one possible explaination.

It's not really ruining anything for me, so no biggie - and it does work, most of the time.

I do agree that it's annoying, as it happens to me sometimes as well. I'll usually leave the tab open and just retry a bit later. It would be nice to bump up the priority of searches, but there are two problems with that: Dee would have to change code, which is simply not going to happen; and again, I have no idea what the actual metrics are. If increasing the priority of searches would slow down the whole forum significantly, then it's probably not worth it.

Sometimes i encounter this problem. I dont have idea how to find your posting here in Sports Mogul. Much better if you find it quickly..
