I was trying to do an Expansion Draft in my league that I currently run, however the problems were that we needed to "contract" 2 teams 1st, well I think it would be a good idea if we could expand to 32 teams, and in fact I would be the 1st one to sign up for an Expansion team, however I think if a league does it, it must have 30 human owners. I am trying it in my league, and it is difficult but if could somehow be built into the online version and make it an option for the league commisioner's I would definately use it my league, and also be that expansion team in a different league....hope other people like this idea, I allredy have a dozen on my side of it, but I also got the dozen that hate the idea...any chances this could happen in Baseball Mogul Online?

Anyone else have comments on this? Good idea? Bad idea?

I like it. Adds a bit of spice. Bring it on :)

if they offered expansion and contraction to where if a league had say 28 owners the other 2 teams could be contracted...this would also encourage new gms into possibly joining later as they would get an expansion team instead of a team that was run by the computer and has some salaries that the gm woulld not want...

It might be very complicated to control and program, though. Because you wouldn't want the commish to be able to expand and contract at will, without approval from the owners.

I think this could be a very good idea. If there was a way for it only to take place when there's a 2/3rds approval for it I'd be all for it. There's leagues I'd like to get into, but never can (expansion option could create 2 more spots in good leagues) and there's leagues that have 2 teams that have two teams that have remained dead for quite awhile. Definately a good idea, but it could be abused.

I agree with the concept of expansion/contraction, but giving the Commissioner the option of being able to do it unilaterally. I for one would love to cut the Independent League into two 8-team leagues, for example - adding new teams whenever there was demand for expansion.

I am all for it. It would be great.

I agree. Good idea

a cool twist would be to let us move our team to a new city. You could have a map of the united states and show where all the teams are currently and have maybe 5 or so open slots for them to move to .... Charlotte, Indiana exc. Each state would have a stadium with it's advantages and disadvatages, like we have already.

When a team moves they create another open slot from the city they moved from. So if you moved from Chicago to Charlotte.. Then Chicago would be open for expansion and Charlotte would be closed. This would leave a constant of 5 open cities at all times.

I think there should be more options for the league instead of every league having 30 teams. For example, 8 4 team divisions (32 teams). This gives everyone an equal chance to win the division, (1 in 4). Also, provides a balanced schedule: 22 games vs. division (66) and 8 vs. the other 3 divisions (96). Another good option, is 6 4 team divisions (24 teams). Again 22 games, vs. division and 12 vs the other 8 teams. I think it would also be possible to insure that all September games are played within one's own division, making division races more interesting.

Another commissioner option (besides number of teams) is an all fictional player start. Anybody else think fictional starts would be great?

How about we could have commish's that try to do what only benefit their team like bud selig and then in our hometown we could get booed because we have to clue about the game execpt that we want to benefit george strienbraner. it would be just like real life!

And then there could be greedy players or players that play for the fun of the game.

And cities could offer to pay incentives like a certian part of the salary of the team or build the stadium on the tax payers money.
