First to start, the specifics:
-Running BBM09
-Coach mode (I generally suck with anything higher then this)
-2008 Mets are my team
-Monthly updates plus updates about trades and other important team events.
-I'll create Citi Field in 2009
-I'll try to not take advantage of the AI too much, through trades and signings. Rules would bore me, I'll just use rule of thumb here.
-I'll be using HGM's rosters

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
March 2008

The Mets top executives held a closed-door meeting about the team's financial troubles. Omar Minaya, the team's general manager, was surprisingly not invited to this meeting.

Fred Wilpon, co-owner of the Mets with his son Jeff, spoke first:

"People, we have a tremendous problem on our hands. The team isn't winning and we aren't making a dime. I think the fans are sick of people who they can't even relate to making the team's decisions. We need a John Everyman to take over this team."

The meeting went on, and was just generally always a boring executive with a boring graph leading a boring discussion. Nothing exciting was talked about, until Fred Wilpon called in an intern with a phone book. He flipped through the pages a bit, and then appeared to have found his page. Another intern wheeled in a projector, and Fred ripped the page out of the phone book and projected it for all to see.

We read the page:
EVERTS,GLORIA
JOHN P. EVERTS
JUAN EVERTSAN
TERESA EVERY
EVERY, BOB C.
ROBERT E. EVERYMAN
EVERYMAN, JOHN P.
JOHN EVERYMAN
EVERYMAN, JUAN

We saw that he was dead serious about hiring a John, or even maybe a Juan Everyman.

The next day, as was expected, Omar Minaya was fired. In his replacement, as we had also expected was Juan Everyman. Juan was a 63-year old baker and lifelong Mets fan from Staten Island,NY.

He gave a quick press conference, and then decided upon his manager and coaching staff.

Manager: Ken Macha (368-208 as A's manager from 2003-2006
Hitting Coach:Keith Hernandez
Pitching Coach:Ron Darling
Bench Coach: Don Zimmer (885-858 as manager of four teams, longtime Yankees bench coach)
1st Base Coach: Mike Jorgenson (45-54 during short tenure as Cardinals manager)
3rd Base Coach: Kevin Kennedy (FOX sports analyst, led the Red Sox to 1995 playoffs)

Everyman made his first trade rather quickly:

TO GIANTS
P Bobby Parnell (63/89)

TO METS
C Bengie Molina (80)

Parnell should probably be a decent player, but Bengie upgrades our catching beyond Brian Schneider and Ramon Castro, who is injured.

Here's how Macha set his roster:

LINEUP:
1- SS Jose Reyes (82/85)- a talented five-tool SS
2- 2B Luis Castillo (79)- decent contact, speed, fielding, no power
3- CF Carlos Beltran (82)- great hitter, good fielding, and some speed
4- 3B David Wright (90/92)- the cornerstone of our team
5- 1B Carlos Delgado (82)- getting old, still has some pop though
6- RF Ryan Church (84)- all around decent player
7- C Bengie Molina (80)- OK player with above-average defense
8- LF Endy Chavez (72)-incredibly underrated as a player
9-Pitcher Spot

BENCH:
C Brian Schneider (74)- a crafty veteran catcher, weak hitting, good defense
IF Damion Easley (79)- good all-around player, but he's 38 years old
OF Brady Clark (78)- career bench player, adds some pop
3B Fernando Tatis (71)- good, but hasn't been in MLB since 06
OF Angel Pagan (79/84)- he'll probably replace Endy if necessary
OF Marlon Anderson (81)- good, but inconsistent.

STARTERS
SP1 Johan Santana (94)- no explanation necessary
SP2 John Maine (82/83)- probably starting over Perez b/c of consistency
SP3 Oliver Perez (83/89)- can be amazing, but INCREDIBLY inconsistent
SP4 Pedro Martinez (76)- lost most of his stuff, but still OK
SP5 Tony Armas (82)- not great, but better than Pelfrey

BULLPEN
Closer: Billy Wagner (86)- can still get the job done
Setup: Aaron Heilman (90)- very good young pitcher
Short Relievers:
Pedro Feliciano (80/82)- currently the longest tenured Met, good pitcher too
Jorge Sosa (82)- sometimes sucks, lately is pretty good
Middle Relief: Matt Wise (83/84)- I think every one of my pitchers is inconsistent...
Long Relief: Joe Smith (77/84)- great young relief pitcher
