Well then you'll be in a position to tell me....despite the sweep this weekend, given the events of 1986, 2004 and 2007. Do Angel fans consider the Red Sox to be a bogey team? At least in the playoffs?

Well, I don't. Some do though.

Not quite as impressive as yesterdays hit by Aybar, but thank you Howie Kendrick!

PS.: 40th for K-Rod.
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/k-rods-season

Yesterday, Francisco Rodriguez became the faster pitcher ever to get to 40 saves, doing it on July 20th, in the Angels 98th game of the season. Last year, he didn’t get his 40th save until the Angels’ 162nd and final game of the season. He’s on pace for 66 saves, which would shatter the record of 57 that Bobby Thigpen set in 1990.

Some may guess that K-Rod has just padded his total, racking up cheap saves by coming in with two or three run leads, but it just isn’t true. Rodriguez has a pLI of 2.63, giving him the highest leverage index of any reliever in 2008. A 2.63 pLI is extraordinarily high - the second highest season total in the last 10 years belongs to Troy Percival in 2000, when he had a 2.57 pLI that year. Thigpen had a 2.05 pLI, by the way.

So ... Rivera or Rodriguez, who would close? :P

a very dangerous team thats not getting any credit by the media.

Depends, if you are talking about having someone for their entire career or just this season? K-Rod is having one of the most dominate years ever by a closer, but he still doesn't compare to Mo's longevity.

Only if you're using saves to judge the closer. Mariano Rivera is actually having one of the most dominate years ever by a closer, up there with Dennis Eckersley. Rodriguez is no doubt having a great year, but his K-rate is down for him and his walk rate up - 45 to 27 BB in 44 innings. A 1.25 WHIP. He's getting a lot of saves because the Angels have very good pitching and not that great offense which makes for a lot of close games. Rivera, in the same amount of innings, has 53 strikeouts and 4 walks, a 0.68 WHIP. THAT is dominance.

Just don't insert Rivera in a non-save situation. :(

I'll tell you what dominance is. Even though it's not as comparable since it's not professional, San Diego State pitcher Stephen Strasburg had 133 strikeouts and only 16 walks this year in 97 and a third pitched. That's more than a 8:1 K:BB ratio.

Hey, nice game for Waters though. 8 innings, 1 hit, against the best team in baseball. Can't beat that!
