Hello everyone,

I just reached september 1st for the first time since I bought the game (I'm playing all of my games in manager mode). I've read in some posts how it works (minor league players show up only in in-game menus, etc.). Still, I haven't found an explication for this situation: (don't know where the image will show..!)

Is it normal that he had an AB but no game played? Will he continue to compile stats in AAA even if he's on my 40-man roster? Does it hurts young player development to have ABs in the majors if they're not ready (read - 70/88).

That guy played for me a while, but I sent him down to the minors because he was struggling. Still, the game should count because he had an AB, no?

The AAA "season" ends on Sept. 1st, so no.

More playing time always increases development. Since he wouldn't be playing anyway, playing in September can only help.

11.10 Player makes debut in manager mode game, no GP/(stats?) recorded (http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php?t=174752&highlight=games+played)

Thanks Ohms, your interventions are always helpful.

However, my question mark with the young player development is still: if he's not ready for the Big Show, will it harm is development? Let's take a 18 yrs old, 60 overall player with a 90 potential rating. You think that by playing him in the MLB he will develop faster? Do I understand you right?

Edit: Sorry for the rookie mistake, I didn't know that AAA season finished on Sept. 1st.

I'd reflect what Ohms said: playing time at any level will always increase development. If a 60/90 player takes a few at bats or fields a few grounders here and there throughout September, it shouldn't hamper him in any way. It can only help, especially since there are no minor league games in September.

On the other hand, if you were to stick that 60/90 guy in the starting lineup in April and play him through October, yes, it would increase his skill and overall rating eventually, but you would probably notice his peak start to come down, sometimes 10 or 15 points. If you bring guys along too quickly, it tends to hurt their peak. However, even when a peak falls and comes in line with the overall rating, the player can still get both these numbers up again by a)playing well and b)aging if he's young.

The general rule I use for knowing when it's "safe" to actually use a prospect regularly in the majors is 70+ for position players and relievers and 75+ for starting pitchers; that is, overall rating. I also would only do this if need be, or if my team is out of the playoff race and I want to give these guys some time. Otherwise, I'll wait until their ratings are better, particularly their vitals. This is my own thing, I'm sure others do it differently.
