Just got him in a trade with Houston lol!

Is he from Oregon? That would make things more funnier.

RedsoxRockies
07-24-2008, 04:11 PM
No, he is from New Jersey, and since this is the 2040's, he could be HoustonGM's son!

justanewguy

Houston lost more than just an unhealthy but potentially star-caliber leadoff hitter or #2 hitter, they lost a great deal of veteran leadership and experience at Rookie ball.

What is your Promotion to A set at?

Also, wow, the scouts that write their opinions into words sure differ from the scouts that put their opinions into numbers.

I took this just after I got him, so yea I put him in a higher level. The A ball promotion is at like 50%, and all of the promotions are high, because the ai has been stupid like this. A lot of players are not making it to the majors until they are like 27-28

That always makes me... sad. I hate how it does this. Good thing you saved him. He wasn't going to sniff the majors until he was so old that he'd be even more likely to break a hip than he is now. Should make an excellent asset as a 4th outfielder and maybe part-time RF. Gotta love the switch hitter off the bench with good contact and decent speed. Not to mention the great name.

Now I wish I was at home and not at work so I could play BM...

he really should have better RBI numbers with those averages. Where is he batting in the lineup?

RedsoxRockies
07-29-2008, 01:41 PM
was batting 2nd, but just moved him to 6th.

RedsoxRockies
07-29-2008, 01:42 PM
He was hitting second because I had a fairly good lineup, which free agency and a bad trade has weakened slightly

Or his grandson.

Yeah, if HGM had a kid at 16 and his kid had Duck at 17, or vice versa. HGM was born in 1989, West Duck in 2022. HGM would've been only 32 or 33 depending on when in the year he was born.

Could happen. HGM could be hiding a part of his life that we dont know about. Could have knocked up his girlfriend at 16, gave the kid up for adoption so they could have a normal life. Kinda like in Juno.

This thread is hilarious.

I love all the people searching for the deeper meaning to explain why West Duck is so funny. I mean, seriously, how many people do you know have a family name of Duck? And why did they name their kid after a cardinal direction? Why West and not North or South?

The answer to those questions is of course: who cares, West Duck is a funny name.

BINGLEBOP
03-14-2009, 06:37 AM
I considered it odd funny and not comical funny, at least compared to some of the other great names that have been brought up before.

I'd consider it hilarious if there was some sort of Mad Lib-like program that created random names that Clay added just for the hell of it.

Let Star Prospect = [Adjective][Noun]
Random Player = [Color][Animal]

Exactly, it is just an incredibly random name. When I posted the thread, I did not find it comically funny, but I found it odd, and it shows how weird the naming system is. And Clay did have some fun fiddling with names, I have heard. Not like you said, but he did enter names that were intentionally meant to be funny. I believe someone posted a Wouldja Blomey or something like that, and I believe Houston said Clay jokingly put it in the name database.
