We have come to the realization that we can't make any significant improvements to BMO while also addressing billing problems (bugs, expired credit cards, confused users, bad interface design, etc.) on a daily basis.
As of today, we are turning off credit-card billing for current BMO customers. That's right, BMO is now free! This solution isn't perfect. It means we have to turn off the creation of new accounts, to prevent BMO from getting overrun with cheaters. But it's the best solution we can think of.
Obviously, we won't be making any money from BMO while billing is turned off. We are going to continue to provide it for free for at least 60 days, as a thank you to everyone who has paid for the game over the last several years.
I don't know what the next step will be for BMO. It's possible that we will have to erase all current leagues and restart with new league files, in order to implement new code that uses a different database format.
We're also responding to a couple of inquiries to buy Baseball Mogul Online. Considering that we are in over our heads when trying to support BMO, selling the game to a bigger company may turn out to be the best solution.
Please note that we are only turning off billing for existing customers at their current account level (e.g. Bronze/Silver/Gold) as of July 31st.
This means that if you do any of the following, your credit card will be billed:
1) Upgrade your account (e.g. change from 'Bronze' to 'Silver')
2) Re-activate an old account (e.g. change from 'None' to 'Bronze')
3) Create a new account
I really appreciate your past support of BMO, and I'll be sure to keep you updated about any changes.
Best regards,
Clay
