View Full Version : A New Category For The Boards?

I enjoy reading the Dynasties category on the board. Lot's of creative people on here sharing their ideas and love for the game and BM. I would love to post my gameplay experiences here to share with others as well, but I don't think they would really fit into the Dynasties category.

I mostly play fictional and historical leagues, right now a semi-reality based independent league as shown in my sig. It would be great if their was a seperate category for those that want to share their progress in their solo play, whether it be fictional, historical, current MLB, by posting things like game recaps, boxscores, current standings, maybe an occasional writeup.

What do you guys think? Maybe something like a Replays category? Or should we just stick with the Dynasties category and post things like that there?

I understand you. It makes sense...

Glad you do. I wasn't sure if I was able to convey clear enough what I was thinking. :)

I also have wanted to do something like that

The description of your gameplay sounds exactly like a dynasty.

Do you mean that it would be to share good single-game performances, winning streaks, amazing comebacks, stuff like that?

I think he means just basically showing how his team is doing, bragging about good players, whatever is going on in his league. I would not call it a dynasty

yea... but that fits into the Dynasty forum, I think.

PS.: I know that this forums says "Problems" with the board, but it's been used for suggestions as well. Dee (and Clay) pays attention to this subforum, and things like this aren't really about Baseball Mogul itself so... *shrug*

Yeah, that's the idea I had in mind. Rather than creating all the fictional background stories (which I do like to read in the Dynasties forum), it would be a place to just brag, show how the league is unfolding during the season, follow your favorite team in the replay, etc. Almost like following the season by reading the boxscores in the morning paper.

Thanks for moving this where it belongs ohms.

There are several dynasties like that. You should do one about your Southern league. And look at Rongars, they are mostly Box scores. You could do one like that but with standings and stats and stuff

Yeah, my SIL was what got me to thinking about this in the first place. Also, I plan on doing a single season replay of the 1914 and 1915 Federal league, so I'll take a closer look. :) If what I'm talking about will fit in with the current Dynasties board, then I'm all for posting there and not creating a new category. Appreciate the feedback.

Yeah, I think this is pretty much exactly a "Dynasty." There's different types. Not all have the detailed backstories and all.

Thanks for this, guys. I've been planning an expansion team dynasty, and boy, will it have backstory; it's basically shaping up to be a novel with stats in it. I was thinking it might be too "wordy" for Dynasties, but I would guess that isn't the case...

Read Giant Problems or Trapped in Pets great works. They are wordy.

I think its fine the way it is now. They're all dynasties per se, but there are many different types of them. Some are more plot based, some are based on just gameplay, etc.

Dynasties is fine, but you should def. write about your league. I'd like to hear about it.

I know that you mean well, RSR, but you're implying that the "Brooklyn Knights"
and the "Canjun Ehs" "standings, stats and stuff (recaps?)" are not
published in the Dynasty forum.

They are, indeed!

Legally, everything written here can be considered to be "published". It's also all owned by SportsMogul, Inc., although the rights to what is published here is non-exclusive since there is no agreement about it either implicitly or explicitly.

At least, that's the way that I (a layman) understand both Copyright and publishing law.

I am not going to dig for the thread. But I was totally against this last time. And actually HGM was for it :), I see how things have changed. I think this is a wonderful idea.

This will be important, down the road, when it comes to litigation over the authorship of my posts...I can see it now..."Were they really written by a "Rongar"?...or Stephen King?"
