have i missed something or is there no reason to have a fb or te in the game. there is no blocking skill rating so it appears u would be better off to put 2 backs with high rushing ratings in your lineup and not play with a fb. the te also should have a blocking rating that would be a bonus to the rushing ability of the team. i haven't done this but i wonder if it is possible to stick a wr with better ratings at te.

I think you're right. There is no point. Might as well go 3 WR and two speedy backs.

One thing that confuses me is the need to have FOUR (count 'em) four tight ends on on the roster. If you have an injury to one of these four, your scout will automatically sign a fifth...
Running backs get two starting positions and still only require four roster slotss....

I agree that the FB and RB roles should be different as should the WR and TE roles.
Usually when I acquire or draft for the FB and TE spots I still go for the bigger guys who I would like to believe can black but still be effective in other areas as well. Goof FBs should be great blockers, be bigger in size than a normal HB, and be able to run for short yardage and catch the ball on screen plays.
I always draft the guys that are like 6'2 246lbs. that are in the 90s when it comes to receiving and around 59 at rushing. It's close to what a regular FB is like anyways. So I improvise.
Same with TEs. I draft the 6'5" 255lb. guy who can catch in the 85-90 range.
But I agree, these blocking skills need to be emphasized much the same way that they are for OL players. I would like to know that picking up a guy like Lorenzo Neal is productive for my feature back and not jut a waste of a roster space that some speedy third down back would be better off filling to rack up yardage totals between the two backs.

My research showed most teams keeping lots of tight ends, and using them frequently on special teams, as they are usually good blockers, and have good hands for things like onside kicks.
Good news is I'm fixing that problem of teams automatically going out and signing a replacement. If you only have 3 TE's, the team will just adjust accordingly.

PS I've uncovered a number of minor bugs and some serious issues with the AI. I will hopefully do a posting of that tonight....
