Anyone on here seen this?
It looks great, just curious who here has played/or is intersted in it?

(for those that don't know: it is an adaptation of a board game that based on a cross between fantasy rugby/football and street violence)

Blood Bowl was/is a FANTASTIC game. There was a computer game made in...I believe the mid 90's, that was alright, but it didn't have the kind of customization available that it needed.

This one looks really promising, though...it is definitely on my 'game radar'.

Ive always loved BB, I have just about every team in minatures, Ive played soooo many games and have so many favorite team.

This game looks great as it will hold true to the turnbased board game style of play complete with "dynasty" style mode. Im a bit disappointed that only Wood elves are in the initial release (High elves were my fav BB team, and Dark elf my best team ever)

Well, I didn't get to play as often as you have...a buddy of mine owned the game, so I was sort of limited to when he was available. :D

Yeah, the decision to focus on one type of character seemed a little weird...I'm hoping that it means their first priority was the game itself, and then they'll release others as add-on content.

D'oh! Well, the game has now officially slid back to the first quarter of 2009 (this would have made a sweet little Christmas gift).

If you hit the Storm link next to the release date on that page, it takes you right to the comment where the reasons are given. Basically, since they want to launch simultaneously on all platforms, they're worried that console companies are going to be swamped with titles wanting certification for the holiday season. They also don't feel like going head to head with the heavy hitters that always appear in that time frame, and being lost in the shuffle to the casual consumer.

(On a side note, when I was trying to find that post, again, I started on the Gamespot site, on the page for Blood Bowl. The 'Other Games You Might Be Interested in' featured Chaos League and I think NFL : The Blitz...and then Harry Potter Quidditch and a couple of kiddie Horse Trainer games. HUH?!).

I owned and played (just a few times) the tabletop version when it first came out. It was a great idea but took too long to play. I could never convince my buddies to play, even after making an "Arena" version with a much smaller playing field.

I read the reviews and you can customize teams (at least the way they perform). You can make the wood elf team play like any of the other elven teams, but they will look like a wood elf team. I realize that is one of the most important factors, but I would rather they get it right than have a plethora of options and have subpar gameplay. They have said that they will be releasing new teams intermittently.

After digging around on some forums, I guess it's now releasing March of '09, despite the fact every games site still shows Q4 of this year (which is, of course, nearly done).

Nice...I hadn't checked on that for awhile. I'll definitely be picking it up at some point.

If your familar with the tabletop version of the game; its an amazingly accurate translation: the online play needs need to work out a few kinks in the matchmaking, but they admittly are still working on that.

IF your not; Ive always described the game as an RPG/sports cross between rugby and street violence - in a fantasy setting

Did anybody play Jerry Glanville's Pigskin Footbrawl (http://www.allgame.com/game.php?id=62) for SEGA.

Loved the game, this thread reminded me of it. I still have it somewhere.

I think I'll hold off for the MP to be cleaned up because it sounds like the AI is pretty clueless a lot of the time. MP is where this game is going to shine or die.
