" and now coming into pitch for the Phillies, closer Brad Lidge" Joe Buck announced.

" Well, unless Boston can pull off a comeback here in the ninth the Phillies will win the World Series after being down 3 games to none." said Joe Morgan. " Kevin, you know what it feels like to be this close to making an historic comeback, whats going through the heads of the players on this young
Phillies team.

" They know they have a chance. They know that there is no pressure on them and that the Red Sox have all the pressure Joe." answered Kevin Millar.

"The first pitch to Pedroia is hit softly back to the pitcher. Over to 1st. and there is 1 gone." said Morgan. "David Ortiz hits that ball to rightfield but now far enough."

"and the Red Sox are down to there last out, and coming to the plate Nick Swisher." Joe Buck exclaimed. "Swing and line drive off the wall that will be extra bases as Swisher slides into second with a 2 out double. What is this? They are intentionally walking the tying run on base????? Kevin Youkilis with the IBB and now Hank Blalock is now at bat."

"I'm not sure what there thinking???? Blalock has been amazing since being traded to Boston midseason." Kevin Millar announced. "Here come's the 2-0 pitch. Swing and a high fly ball to right this could make it. Jeremy Hermidia backing up climbs the wall....It is off his glove the Red Sox Win the World Series, The Red Sox win the World Series.
(I was playing this in PBP mode....he hit the ball 305 feet down the rightfield line at Fenway)

That was such an awesome season so I am gonna make it into a dynasty for the next season. First I will post all the trades I made in 2008.

Trades

Here are the trades that I made in the 2008 season.

To Seattle
David aardsma
Nick Hagadone
To Boston
Miguel Batista
I needed another starter at the beginning of the season Buchholz wasn't ready yet and I wasn't sure how Bartolo Colon would do.

To Texas
Manny Ramirez
Michael Bowden
10,000,000
to Boston
Hank Blalock
Nick Swisher
To Chicago(al)
Neil Ramirez
Chris Davis
I was able to cut Manny's contract, get a good replacement and get a good 3B because Mike Lowell was sucking(hitting below .200)

To Arizona
Mike Lowell
Devern Hansack
To Boston
Connor Robertson
actually a trade offered to us..... got rid of Lowell and got a prospect

Youkilis, Other Key Members of WS Team Gone

18025
Lets start off with the good news. Hank Blalock, WS hero was resigned by Boston. He started off wanting 5.5 million for 4 years but after negotiating long and hard we were able to resign him for 3 years at 4.8 million per year. Both Red Sox 1B are now on the Fa market. Kevin Youkilis wanted 8.5 million dollars in arbitration, we just couldn't afford that for a 1B with his skill. We had to release yoooooooooouuuuuuuukkk. Sean Casey wanted 2 years worth 2.5 per year. This isn't bad but considering he was injured for most of the year we couldnt take the chance. Sean Casey was released. alex Cora wanted 1.5 Million Dollars. We signed him to a 1 year deal worth 1.4 Million. Longtime Red Sox Tim Wakefield wanted 4.8 Million Dollars for 3 years. We didn't want to pay him until he was 45. He was releasedbut if he wasn't signed by another team rumors say he would be our bench coach. Mike Timlin and Curt Schilling both had the same problem as Wakefield, they were old so we released them. Bartolo Colon wanted 2.25 Million for 1 year, we signed him to that. Hideki Okajima asked for 850K in arb, we offered 600 K and we won that case.

Boston Fills 1B Hole
18031
Today the Red Sox Front Office made a big move by acquiring Conor Jackson from Arizona. Going to the Diamondbacks in return for the 1B are CF Coco Crisp, 1B prospect anthony Rizzo and SP David Pauley. Jackson had a very good year last year, his stats almost identical to Youkilis. You can count on him for .300, 20 HR, 85 RBI for next year. Terry Francona has yet to decide if Jackson will hit leadoff due to his OBP near .400 or hit 5th because of his power. He is signed until 2011 at 4 Million Dollars per year; very cheap for a 1B of his caliber.

To Boston
Conor Jackson
To Arizona
Coco Crisp
anthony Rizzo
David Pauley
I really like this trade because I got someone to fill youkilis's spot who has almost the exact same stats. Coco Crisp was just going to be our 4th OF this year, and Pauley and Rizzo are still a few years away.

Yeah...if i were the 2009 Yankees I'd offer Youk a 5/60 in a heartbeat. That settles right there all the no field/dh types playing first for them for 14-20 million a year, and he provides cover at third if Arod gets hurt.

Red Sox Sign Bush, Rotation Set
Today the Boston Red Sox signed SP David Bush to a 3 year contract worth a combined 17.1 Million dollars. Bush had his best season last year going 12-10 with an Era just over 4.50. Bush was a workhorse last year averaging about 6.67 innings per start. Bush is a very reliable starter; over the last 3 years he hasn't missed a start. Bush will most likely be Boston's #4 starter behind Jonathan Lester.

On another note the Red Sox signed utility man aaron miles to a 1 year deal worth just over 2 millon dollars

Lugo, Prospects Sent Packing
The Red Sox made a blockbuster trade with the New York Mets. The Boston Red Sox will send struggling SS Julio Lugo(who hit only .254 last year,) Josh Reddick, the slick fielding SS prospect Will Middlebrooks and pitching prospects Craig Hansen and Daniel Bard to the NYM. Coming to Boston will be all-star SS Jose Reyes. Last year Reyes hit 20 HR, batted .278 and swiped 66 bases. Reyes will be Boston's leadoff hitter this year, Dustin Pedroia will hit 2nd and speedster Jacoby Ellsbury will hit 9th.

The games last great knuckleballer won 186 games in his career and had a career Era of 4.41. It was also announced that Wakefield had signed a contract to be the Red Sox bench coach until the end of the 2010 season.
