i'm in the negative points and am trying to cut payroll but since these leagues are for the most i see dead i can't trim fast enough. so i take it you have taken it upon yourselves to take out my scouting and so on. Well i guess the small market teams bite it again. How about evening up the playing field. At least make the attendance depend on players putting winning teams on the field. Right now I'm Cincinnati and have had three winning years in a row. One year i won 96 games and just missed the playoffs. All this and my payroll was barely over 300 pts. Now I'm a little bit in debt 'til i can release some more players at the start of next season. I've been trrying to trade Griffey Jr for the past two sim seasons. But once again since these leagues are dead and those who are playing don't want to spring for any payroll then i'm stuck with him til his contract year. Now i won't be able to get good young players without any scouting!

I think they changed the code so that you can't spend money on scouting, med, and stuff if you are running a deficit, without any cash in the bank. I agree with the changes for the most part as there were far too many teams being ruined with overspending. I read that the computer takes over trades if the player has been away from the computer for more than 365 in game days, so you might be able to work out a deal with some of the players which have had the computer take over. I think something has to be done about the number of dead leagues. The ones I'm in are OK for the most part, but I've heard a lot of ppl complaining about their leagues being dead. Perhaps a league with 75% inactive players should be disbanded or restarted after a vote with all the active players (the ones who don't have red next to their name) with all the inactive players kicked.

Being in debt sucks. I had a team 500 points in the hole and I had a 1800 point salary (no typo)
But I figured that team was messed up forever so I gave up the team quickly. If you want to make some serious dough change your ticket price so that your limit is at its highest. Then change broadcast to PPV. If you have that stuff done already stop re-signing expensive players who may be great because they can be replaced. Im Cleveland and my payroll was about 300 and I was happy with my team. I do sign cheap talent whos aging. Frank Castillo (RL on the Red Sox) for 5 poitns a season and he went an AMAZING 45-0 over 3 seasons. I also signed Steve Shephard for 1 point and he went 18-0 in his 1st season and has gone about 47-7 for me since. Scour the FA to find cheap players with good skill. Keep a scouting tab of about 40 so that players are accurately read. Dont spend on farm players since you dont HAVE to develop and can sign players. You will get crappy players though. Scouting tells you accurately the players rating. Farm team is where you draft and build players from. Medical you can take a risk at I guess but they recommend atleast 20. I am in Fast Sim 10 and 11 so if there are anyn opening in this league come join.

because i have tried and tried to make trades and there never is any response at all! Anyway i can understand stopping the spending of points on the scouting and so if you are running a great big deficit but mine was about -40, not like some in the leagues at -1000+. Anyway, now i can't make a trade because i have no scouting and won't know what i'm getting. Anyway these computers may take over aas far as running the teams but i've made a number of offers to teams with big amounts of points and never hear from them. I guess i'll keep trying.:(

but i guess i'll stick it out:cool:. Anyway i have been letting expensive players go but when you're Cincinnati you have to start out with reese, young, grandpa larkin, and griffey. Not to mention the other players that make a decent amount of points. I got rid of most of them guys as early as i could, but i'm still stuck with griffey. I just wish attendance depended more on actually winning as it does in real life and i would have been in good shape. I think some of these teams that go 30-132 should have about 10 fans in attendance. I have continually tinkered with the ticket prices, but it doesn't seem to matter. If i lower ticket prices i get more fans but fewer points...anyway i'm beginning to lose interest in the game because of the players not playing...

I took over San Francisco and twice my scouting got messed up. When i started it was 0 so rebuilding is non-existent with 0 scouting. Then I lowered it to 35 points and my players again went haywire in off-season but now its fixed. I made the second highest profit too last year.

just because you're a little in debt i don't think they should take away your scouting abilities. I mean how can you even try to compete w/o scouts? i was in the process of lowering my payroll. i was down to under 250 pts. so griffey is 65 pts of that add casey {who if i knew then what i know now I wold not have signed him at 35 pts} and right there is 100 pts of it so i'll make it back as soon as i can get rid of those two. the rest of it i spent on pitching. i would like to see them start with everybody being free agents so you don't start your league in a hole as you always will with Cincinnati, because they can "NEVER" bring in enough revenue to pay for the players they start you with. Then you could start building your team the way you want to.
