Just noticed some changes have been made to free agency. I was bidding on a few players and when the season started none signed with me or anyone else. I was offering very little for the players, hoping that someone else in the league would join in the bidding process.

I don't have a problem with players refusing low end offers, but I would like the player to state their minimum salary. How about minimum bids on free agents is 1/2 of what they are asking for.

I find it absurd that any free agent would sit out a season cause noone will pay his obscene contract. Players do refuse to play cause they want to renogiate contracts or want to be traded.

The red status bar "tells" you his "minimum acceptable salary".

If you're bidding 2 points on, say, a Alex Rodriguez, chances are he's NOT going to accept it at the end of the free agency period since his red bar isn't likely to be filled.

"I find it absurd that any free agent would sit out a season cause noone will pay his obscene contract. Players do refuse to play cause they want to renogiate contracts or want to be traded. "

The reason some players will sit out a season is because they can get a better deal in some other league, such as playing in Japan.

We try to reproduce this by having the player sit on the free agent list, if he is any good. If he's no good (or too old, or too high priced, etc.) then he "retires" and disappears forever from the game. But ultimately a great player is not going to play for a miniscule salary, because there is always someone somewhere who is willing to pay him at least part of what he is worth.

I'm not saying players play for 1 point, but coming down in their demands 75% or so would make sense. Some of the super-stars that want big money also seek something else, the history books, hall of fame, etc...

Look at Jose Canseco, he was cut by the Angels earlier this year. Now he is with the White Sox, what does he want out of baseball? I'm sure he wants 500 homers and a chance at the hall of fame(atleast that is what he said on ESPN's up close).

Players should have minimum bids set(you can't bid for less than their minimum). Their minimum bids should also decrease as they approach the season.

Not all players are greedy and totally engrowthed in personal gain. I remember Chris Sabo owning an old rundown stationwagon for most of his career.

I guess I'm mostly in disagreement with the fact that players will sit out a season and not sign a reasonable contract with someone to atleast just be playing the game(maybe have players that can't get their big contract only be available to sign 1 year deals so they can try again next year).

You can always bid again after your first inital bid, to what you think his minimum asking price will be (or what you think is a good deal), this way the minimum bid will be there and you don't have to rely on other ppl bidding up the player.

That discourages "Bargain Hunting." and should help keep balance in leagues where teams miss the FA draft, or forget, or drop out.
