North Carolina has early voting. And I voted!

The turnout was staggering: 3 hours waiting in line. And that's now, still over a week before election day. A lot of people are coming out for this.

I didn't think NC had much chance of going blue, despite the polls; but after experiencing the voter sentiment in line for 3 hours, I think it's got a pretty big chance.

My friend's dad was going to vote, but said with how long the lines were, he was going to take his chance on election day

I can only imagine what a nightmare it's going to be on election day. Even if I wake up terribly early, the line will still be an hour or two long. Oh well, it's once every four years.

I voted yesterday with a 20 minute line. I went at 3 PM. It was pretty nice.

Noticed that I hadn't done enough research on the longest ballot in Colorado state history and made a couple of rash decisions on some amendments based off law wording (something I never want to do)

I also voted against all judges lol

I'm surprised that you were eligible to vote, AOW...have you been resident there for six months?

A year, actually. And you can register to vote when you get a driver's license. I've lived here since Oct '07, but I just got my driver's license and registration in July '08.

absentee voting is the best. Just mail off for it, mark it up, and send it back...no long lines, no risk of getting attacked by a crazed McCain supporter that will carve a backward B into your face...

Interesting... it would be nice not to have to wait in long lines for hours upon hours. In Minnesota, it says you may vote by absentee ballot if:

• you are going to be absent from the precinct on election day
• illness or disability prevents your going to the polling place
• religious discipline or observance prohibits your attendance at the polling place
• you are an election judge in another precinct

Are they particular about that? Could I make something up regarding being absent on election day (vacation, family get-together, etc.)?

Otherwise, it says I may vote in person at the Hennepin County Government Center during normal office hours, so maybe I will check that out.

There are elections every year on November 4th, you know...
Besides, the Presidential Elections are probably the least important election in the country.

Besides, the Presidential Elections are probably the least important election in the country.

Federally it's the most important as 1/3 of the Senate is up, the entire House is up AND the Executive branch is up for grabs.

Locally it's the least important for sure as mayoral, district attorney, and city council aren't usually up during presidential election years.

I would plead a hangover, brought on by my having celebrated the Election results in advance!

I'm so glad I voted early yesterday... the line to vote was maybe 30 minutes at the most. It sounds like Election Day is going to be all-out chaos (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/28/georgia.voting/index.html?eref=rss_topstories).
