I joined a new league, FastSim 54, in the hopes of getting a clean start. Unfortunately, I am in a league with somebody who is blatently cheating.
The Cubs have made several trades for nothing. They have gotten star players, but not given anything in return. Before you say that the trades could have been for cash, and the headlines don't list cash, the Cubs have mysteriously ammassed 276 points of cash. This despite losing 63 points in the first two months.
I know that this is beta, and when the game goes live this won't be a problem, but this is very upsetting to people like me who enjoy playing the game honestly. Please tell me that something will be done.
p.s. One manager has even named their team "ALotOfCheatersInThisLeague."

I have 1000 points and having 270 isnt a tonne if he saved up from the past. back when points were up to 9999 I saw a person running two teams and dealing all one teams talent to the other along with 9999 cash.
What a fool.

Cheating is rampant, but what can you do? There is pretty much nothing being done about people controlling two accounts. Personally, I have no idea why people cheat, as exploiting computer AI is already so easy, plus it removes all the fun out of the game. I'm just hoping that most of this will disappear when people have to pay for accounts.

Actually, having over 270 points is a ton if you consider that this is the first season for this league. In fact it is the first 2 months of the first season, and this team is listed as having LOST money over these 2 months.

I had the Toronto team with the cute last name.
Look at the owners list, there are 5 guys with the same 1st name with a different number after it..of course those are the teams trading to Chicago. Once I saw that I decided to join a different league. There is also a different name in the list that is repeated a few times..also trading with Chicago.....pretty sad if you must combine 6-8 teams to try to win.

I've given up on quitting leagues where cheating occurs, as it would pretty much mean I would have to quit every league I join, since it seems someone cheats at one point or another in every league. But again, what can you do?

I know what you mean but that league is really bad..Chicago had made 8 trades with different teams for all the stars without giving up anybody..you would think he/she would have dealt away players that were not going to ever play...just to keep salary down a little..plus raping the teams of all the cash they had as well is pretty bad.

Can the Mogul folks store a user's incoming IP address, and then make sure that no other account is coming in under that address? I know this isn't fool-proof since you can just use multiple computers and ISP accounts, but it will at least get rid of most multiple accounts.
I would like to test this game for at least 10 seasons in one league, but with the "sack & pillage" gaming going down, I can't get an honest assessment of the game over time.

I believe Clay had mentioned the IP block in the past, but it wouldn't work. At my work, we have almost 2000 users who go through a single firewall, which sends the requests from it's own IP address. If any of the other 2000 users chose to open an account, they would have the same IP address as me, and would be blocked.
I think the key is the monitoring of trades.

I agree, sometimes I go to my father's house and we take turns changing lineup's and stuff for our teams (I have 3 and my dad 3)...if they blocked same IP we wouldn't be able to do that.
Really unbalanced trades should be programmed to be denied.
Also computer trades should be fixed so you could not do any 7 for 1 deals or sign a FA and then trade him. I know in Front Office Football if you try to trade a player you just signed the computer GM says "I don't want a player you just signed" because if he wanted him in the first place he would have signed him. Maybe the computer GM should not accept any deals that have more than 2 players extra coming his way...plus not accept trades if he is at or over his budget and the trade will increase his salary. Or better yet not allow computer teams to trade with owned teams at all.
I like this game but a few things like cheating, stupid computer GM logic ( I decided to leave a league and checked it out at my father's as he still had a team..as soon as I quit the computer gm signed every high priced free agent out there and went way over budget. There was no need to sign alot of these guys as the team I left had decent talent and farm system and was in budget.) make this game less enjoyable.

Thbere is one solution to this... Dont let the same IP join the same league. If you and your father or co-workers want to join a FREE beta league you should just join different leagues and be thankful.

We have different IP addresses, it is just when one of us it at the other's house that this would be a problem. I think that it would be a decent idea to not allow same IP in same league, I would just have to stay home :)
