I am curious...is it possible to sign a FA in the off-season by bidding him up yourself without no one bidding at all for that player except that 1 person who is bidding?
We have players disappearing off our FA lists every year and end up in the big market teams pockets.

Yes, Shock, it is quite possible.

Once you initially bid, the bid goes to 1 pt, and what you bid becomes the max bid. However, if you go to that player and enter a second bid, it will bid up to that amount.

So you could bid a player up to green quite easily and legally without anyone else bidding against you.

In fact, it's the way most people do all their free agent bidding. It's how the system works; it would be very difficult to sign anyone without bidding numerous times to raise your bid to green.

Hope this helps!

So what your saying is that it takes the bidding completly out of the game??
Why not make it just like FA signings dureing the Season? You got a choice of 1-7 years and decide if ya want to pay that.

Bidding means 1 person starts it off and other people throw out their offers and on it goes till he is signed. The system you have i guess doesnt resemble a bidding process what so ever. Its just a conveince store of 1st come 1st serve. You miss the 1st hour .....your screwed.

Shock,

Not to take away from your argument, but the big pocket teams aren't always going to try and swipe the big FA's immediately. The longer the offseason goes, the less money a FA wants(in my experience). Therefore, those who are willing to use their extra points to garuntee they pocket someone doesn't ruin the bidding. It just means they obviously wanted him more than you did. Hope this helps.

Rather than replying here, I'll direct you all to my rather long-winded post on this subject that I put in another thread.

James,

Toasters are our way of life. Without them, bagels would be soft and chewy. Bread would often fall apart when you try to apply butter. Therefore, toasters are our saviors!! :D

Actually, I somehow got on this subject in a thread in the Mogulers forum, and decided that I liked toasters :)

Hey James, how many slots would YOU have? ;)

If I were a toaster, I would probably only have 2 slots. Nothing fancy there, unless maybe they were wide-mouth slots.

BUT I would have a microprocessor controlled toasting mechanism that could precisely and evenly toast the bread, and I would have high output heating elements that would get the job done in half the time.

James,

You're my kind of toaster! Welcome to the club. You've officially checked your sanity at the door, as well as the rest of us. :D

Of course, if I was a toaster, I'd be one of those mongo-sized ones, with 4 slots, all big enough for giant bagels(gotta love fresh bagels). No microchip for me, though. I like the old toasters that you have to watch to get them juuuuuuuuust right. :) Kinda like the Oracle in "The Matrix" with her cookies, ya know?
