If you manually adjusted your rotation in the offseason, that would explain it...
I don't think the CPU would randomly have your #4 starter pitch Opening Day unless it was adjusted...
Has anyone else seen this happen?

I've seen it happen in the CD version. Never on the online one.

the only manual adjustment i made was moving my #5 starter to #4...i wouldn't think that should have the computer picking my #4 starter to start the season...:(
what i think happened was that u made it to the playoffs the previous season and the 4th pitcher was the next pitcher that was supposed to make a start. the season ends, may it be you winning the WS or being eliminated from the playoffs. the pitcher that was supposed to make the next start in the offseason will still be set as "Next Starter"

Thanks all for pointing this out. Seems to happen occasionally whether or not you made the playoffs -- a quirk of where your rotation was when the season ended.
Anyway, I've fixed this in the code by forcing it to #1 in the rotation at the end of spring training. So it should be fixed in the next online update (probably week of August 12th) and the next CD-ROM patch.
