Call Him Up?

I'm sure this has been posted before. I tried searching first but didn't know what to search for.

When you have prospects that are 80+ currently overall, but peak in the 90's. Is it OK to call them up early and let them peak in the majors. Or is it best to leave them in AAA until they get closer to the peak?
I currently have a poor starting 3B (hitting .200 with a .948 FPCT), and a prospect thats 81/96. Debating rather to call him up or not.

Call him up, depending on how good your major league guy is, once a prospect gets to 75 or so, it's time

Really, 75? I don't usually call them to AAA until 72-75.
Wow... This will help me a lot. No wonder my guys don't make the majors until their 26+,usually closer to 30, lol.

I remember when i first started playing, i called a hot prospect up in his low 80's when he had a 90 something peak, and he just capped off right in the low 80's and no longer progressed. That's why i have always waited to call them up. I guess he was just a dud? I noticed some players drop off no matter what you do.

You could also edit your league settings....and have them raise up at better levels...i don't like the settings that are already on there.

I go to A at +30
AA +40
AAA +50
Majors +60

I think you would like the pace in which they get promoted better.

Alright, i'll give that a try.
I manually bring them up from level to level, i get much better progress with that. The AI isn't very smart. Hopefully now that i know they can be promoted earlier, i'll get some nice young talent in the future that sticks around a while.

What Jeffy said is a good idea. It helps the AI if you change the promotion levels.

You might have noticed on AI teams that players will stay in rookie ball for 5 years.

How much should i up the % on the promotions? I wish it would give you numbers instead of %.
I did notice that with the rookie ball, i had the promotion to A at +30% so the other teams wouldn't keep them there so long.

Catknight (resident advisor for all things related to maintaining a league over the long run) just posted this thread (http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php?t=192864) about a 108 year sim he did with good results.

He used +30 for each level

As a player progresses through each level IRL and Mogul, the adjustments should get more difficult. Therefore I go with (and Cat used to but has since moved on) +90/+70/+50/+30 for promotion to A/AA/AAA/Majors respectively. The AI really needs a good swift kick you know where to stop this holding prospects down in the low minors (particularly) nonsense, so I try to help it out. As with all of these settings it all comes down to what you want and what you're comfortable with, so try a bunch of different ones out and see what works for you.
