there is something that i think the game could use.

lets say that i have decided to build a team that is very adept at running the football. how would i go about it. i would attempt to get arunning back who has a run rating of at least 90. but it also seems that i want to put together a blocking unit of around 630 points. that means ratings of around 90 pts for the ol,te and fb. i begin to wonder if the game will give me a great running game. what if i had a running back with a rating of 85 pts and a blocking unit of 665 pts or a rating of 95 pts per blocker. will this also give me a great running game. i assume it would. there should be a team total rating that gives you a team rushing rating, a team pass blocking rating, a team run defense rating, a team pass defense rating, and a team pass rush rating.

the game should have standards which would consist of point totals that tell u if your team is excellent, average, poor etc. in certain areas. this would really enhance the drafting situation when we could see our numerical rating and then draft in those areas that we want to improve so as to get high ratings. by the way this is done in action pc football.

my assumption is that these numerical ratings do actually translate to success. is it possible that a running back with a 95 rating will be successful behond a blocking unit of say 490 points which would be a very average unit. if u put together a blocking unit of 700 points (100 points per blocker) would an average back do pretty well. if the game is in fact presently structured to work this way this would be a meaningful upgrade to the game if the game is not structured this way maybe it should be.

team ratings is a kick *** idea!

it would add to the game. would this just include starters or the whole squad (back up linemen as well)?

i posted this on another thread but their should be a screen where you could assign players to your entire special teams unit. and then their could be a squad rating for that aspect as well.
a great return man only gets you so far, you need good blockers that dont take penalities also. plus good tacklers for kickoffs. and it would also be a way of giving rookies experience and deciding when they get to start.

now i know this may be really getting off the topic but....

how about the ability to scout your players for the last game they played? not only do you get the normal scouting screen but possible some kind of game by game scouting update. so you can start to tell when certain players are improving. sometimes it is a little hard to just go by game stats. it would be good to have that further information.

well sorry to get off the the topic. but group ratings sounds like an awesome idea. you got my vote.
