what's a bad fan?

booing opposing teams and fans....booing former players that left on a good note...not treating the game with respect etc etc etc.

I feel like most people don't find it as annoying as i do

I don't see anything wrong with booing the other team.

Treating the game with respect, is tricky because it smacks of tradition and superstition and those things are pretty fluid.

I have a HUGE issue with the Montreal Canadien fans booing the US national anthem. Scum bags.

ya but that's petty and stupid and senseless....maybe it's my midwestern personality, and that I grew up a Cardinal fan where we like don't boo anyone, and cheer on our competitors, i find it annoying when other people are simply enough....rude.

but then again, maybe it's just me....i think you treat your competition better then that.

Do you ever eat with your left hand, you disgusting pig?

Showed the bottom of your foot to someone, *******?

Pointed, jerk?

Arrived ontime to an event, you socially inept piece of crap?

Given someone the 'Peace' sign, you ingrate?

Given a thumbs up, jackass?

Given a girl a dozen roses, you sociopath?

All these things are considered 'rude' by some people.

that is true, and an interesting analogy....

I just think of it as tactless and don't really understand when people boo or don't act as "kind" fans

I have seen some particularly bad fans (people at Citi Field booing when there was a moment of silence for Harry Kalas), but I really don't see what's wrong with booing a rival.

i don't know how to say this other then to just say it.....i didn't exactly think a new york fan would agree with me on this one.

i don't root against the cubs, I don't believe in booing them...i pay attention...but unless you are playing me, I don't really care what you do...it's more important that my team wins then to care if you guys lose.

Cardinal fans are notourious for being very good fans...that's like our most common claim to fan in the league amongst the players.

I was at a exhibition game last year when it was Red Sox and Dodgers playing and before the game there were a bunch of local little league teams that got to walk around on the field and when the Yankees team walked past this drunk guy started booing the kids and screaming yankees suck. That was kind of uncalled for but i laughed anyway

I dunno I just remember being at Craig Biggio's last game against the Cardinals, he was a cardinal killer all of his career, we hated him, but we would never boo him....he was the guy you loved to hate. and in his last game, he got a standing ovation from Cardinal fans for his career....name another team that does that.

I can give you example after example of good sportsmanship....maybe i am biased, but I don't see that happening in other ballparks..

I really could give you some really awesome examples.

He's too busy ranting for the Mets to trade whoever the last player was that did one thing wrong (such as, allow a run, or make an error). He's got no time to boo the other team.

I don't see a big problem booing former players or another team. Jeffy, do you hate Cubs fans? Yes, they do boo opposing players but when Tom Glavine won his 300th at Wrigley the fans gave him a standing O. They know a lot about baseball and not all Cubs fans are jerks.

i don't hate cub fans, but I don't understand a lot of things they do as a whole...throwing balls back, throwing their hats on the field when Pinella gets in an argument with an umpire, cheering on poor behavior by players, I don't really understand it....why did (i think it was) Vizciano get booed tonight? not like he left on bad terms or anything, you should cheer the dude on.

Why the hell did they all hate Edmonds when you got him and were soooo upset that you got Edmonds for nothing, and a week later after he proves he is still worth a damn start cheering him on? i bet if he came into chicago now, his assets to the team last year would be so quickly forgotten that he would be booed again.

I don't get that. and to call it out, I don't know why you personally root so hard against the Cardinals...doesn't make a lot of sense to me...I don't root against your cubbies...to me they are harmless, maybe that's why i don't...tonight, I wanted you guys to beat the Reds, because if the reds can be taken out of a half game (which they are now) it will make it easier all year to battle just the Cubbies not having to worry about the Reds right behind us.

I just don't get it....i realize i am in a minority here, but that is the way i was raised to cheer on the game, and to never boo...to me it's disrespectful, but I get why fans do it, most do it all in good fun....and i know you do as well....but I don't personally get it.

They were booing Neal Cotts and for good reason. When he's been coming in he's been walking people and not getting outs as he should be being the only lefty in our bullpen.

I for one was not one of the people who booed when we got Edmonds. I was extremely happy to have someone else besides Felix Pie who was garbage. The people who booed were people who do not know the game and the reasons why Hendry made the move. They booed based off the fact that he played for a former rival. I also do not believe he would be booed if he came back to the team this year He was a big part of the teams success last year and that would not be forgotten.

I do not root that hard at all against the Cards. I have teams that I hate more like the White Sox, Yankees, and Brewers mainly because they have players and a manager that I dislike. I really don't mind the Cardinals at all.

yes, but you understand baseball, I was referring the fan base in general....I just remember reading on mlb.com under the cubs site where it was announced, literally 37 of 38(somehow I remember counting and getting to that number) of fans were upset about it.

Cardinals have a ton of bad fans as well, i couldn't stand that we booed Izzy or Kennedy, or even Duncan for the past three years....what the hell? why would you boo your own players, let alone guys that have contributed in the past, or in Duncan's case, will likely be a major part of the team's future.

And as you know, the only team I don't like are the Astros, I love that no one is going to their games, I don't like Tejada etc etc....but I also, will never boo them, I think Berkman is a terribly under rated player....and I love Oswalt....but I don't like the Astros in general, but I will never boo. That stuff seems so childish.....but maybe it's childish that I am venting about this...who knows, i can't sleep...

The only thing that annoys me about fans is when they do that Goodbye chant, you know, "Na,na,na,na hey-aaaaaaa goodbye", but I dont think its rude, just annoying.

I root against the other team, I think Lookout Landing said it best after today's game.

The fun thing about rooting for a ragtag team of opportunistic glove mavens is that nary a win will go by that fans of the opposition won't blame their own players for the loss. There aren't going to be any "well the Mariners just played better than us tonight"s, but you can bet your bottom dollar there are going to be a lot of "WHO IN SAM HELL TOLD GABE KAPLER TO TAKE SNAPS FROM SECOND BASE WHILE WE'RE PLAYING THE FIELD"s. Some might prefer to see their team get credit for winning, but me, I prefer the double satisfaction of knowing the Mariners won while the other team's fans are humiliated, and from the looks of things, there's going to be a lot more humiliation down the road. To winning humiliatingly!

I root against division opponents when they're playing another team and I root for the other team's players to make mistakes. I want my team to win and for that to happen the other team has to lose.

The only thing I find really annoying is when the away team's pitcher tries a pick off attempt and the home fan's boo. That has to be the most annoying thing ever, but I still don't get very upset about it.

This I agree with. Boo the other team all you want, but don't boo an innocuous play like a pick off attempt.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/158209-stay-classy-dodgers-fans

Sitting in the right field pavilion, I saw about a half dozen Giants fans at different points throughout the afternoon. Each time one would walk to their seat, the entire pavilion would boo them mercilessly

Appropriate.

This was usually accompanied by a hail of Dodger Dog wrappers, pieces of bun, peanuts, peanut shells, and popcorn.

Should be kicked out of the stadium
