Congrats to Randy, one of my favorite pitchers when I was younger.

Is the next 300 game winner even in baseball yet? I doubt I'll see another.

History tells us "Probably."

Who is the next closest with a realistic chance?

Probably Roy Halladay or C.C. Sabathia. There won't be another for a while.

Congratulations Unit.

Didn't Tom Verducci write an article on when the Unit was in his prime and so dominating that an umpire actually called his pitches? I heard something of that sort. That is pretty sick if its true.

I was there.

Brian Wilson

Struck out 3 consecutive batters on 3 - 2 pitches and came about as close as you can to walking Adam Dunn with the bases loaded when it was still 2 - 1. 2 borderline pitches were called balls and the next pitch, that wasn't nearly as good (IMO), was a very late strike 3.

Manny Acta, sensing that the Nationals might not cooperate in the 300th win, sent in Joel Hanrahan to give up some insurance runs.

And don't forget his diving throw to get the runner at first

Why?

As I said in another thread, that's been said about EVERY 300 game winner since Early Wynn, including Tom Glavine just two years ago.

I'm sure there will be another 300 game winner. Halladay has a good shot imo of doing it. I'm not sure when or who it will be but I bet someone gets to 300 wins.

HoustonGM

Yep. It's impossible to predict who will win 300 until they're actually close, but SOMEBODY will SOMETIME in the future.

Who the hell would've predicted Randy Johnson to win 300 games when he was 32? Nobody with a rational mind.

Jamie Moyer-Next 300 win pitcher :D

I would think if Felix gets his act together and can actually win games, then he has a shot.
Mark Buehrle has a shot too since lefties seem to last for ever

It was fun, the rainy weather put a damper on things.

It was a good game, he had a no-hitter till about the 4th. He made an excellent defensive play. There was drama, Nationals with the bases loaded two outs, down two to one, and Dunn gets called out on a very borderline pitch.

The worst part was all those damn Giants fans, and all the fans who didn't seem to have a clue about 300

Real pitchers 'will' their team to score for them.

I bet that you would blow out your elbow after 2 pitches in a game, Glass Joe. :)

My favorite Johnson moment is when he faced Larry Walker in the 97 All-Star game. He threw a fastball over Walker's head so Walker turned his helmet around and batted Right Handed.

That was the SECOND time he did that crazy fastball far behind the batter in an All Star Game. I don't know what year it was but he did it in a previous game against John Kruk too.
