I dont know how exactly its going to end, but I know its going to be corrupt politicians and dumb Americans voting for the same two parties that hold all the power year after year will be responsible for it.

It would be a global event for sure, whether it started in America or not. I don't see us going down though but just changing our roll. Some future President will win an election on the promise of reducing our military in half and closing down all our foreign basses. Liberals will love the idea and Ron Paul Conservatives will too, as neo cons are thrown out of the gov,never to be seen from again. Sick of India and China taking all our jobs we will enforce heavy tariffs on them while building new factories employed by all the ex-military.

When America does this it will either cause world wide wars and we will have to respond or we will become a high tech country, independent and somewhat isolated. I think there will be a time in America pretty soon where people (both left and right) will say enough is enough, the world is on their own.

America will end when we become so self-absorbed and placated with our material goods and TV fluff/infotainment so as not to notice the degradation in our livelihood, descending from the once-great nation led by wise poet/inventor/statesmen, to a mass of unintelligent YouTube-video-comment authors, who have no desire to improve themselves or this world, but only to eat and steal what they can and metaphorically **** on the rest

People have been voting for corrupt politicians, debasing culture, living meaningless lives, and being stupid for the entirety of the nation's existence. It hasn't stopped us before, why would anything change now?

I hate hearing about how awful things are compared to the "old days." The old days had all the **** in life that we hate right now. The only reason you don't hear about it, is because no one bothers to put all the meaningless crap from the old days in a museum or history book.

Rome's decline was a lot more complex than "we're all fat and stupid so we lose," despite conventional wisdom. By the time Rome was sacked, pretty much everything of importance was done in Constantinople, which lasted another thousand years. Most of the crap that brought this on (The Crisis of the 3rd Century: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisis_of_the_Third_Century), involved things that are highly unlikely to ever happen in America: military upheaval and dictatorship, continual invasion by neighboring peoples, complete breakdown of trade, widespread civil unrest, among others.

Society has been damaged far more throughout history by people attempting to halt a perceived decline in humanity, than by the decline itself. Furthermore, nothing going on in America right now is anything that it hasn't dealt with in previous years.
