12.11 Expansion Draft Players under min age

I'm running a sim with the 1961 Angels. I left the default setting for minimum draft age at 22, and ran again changing it to 23. The game wanted to protect Nolan Ryan & Johnny Bench, both age 21. I unprotected due to the minimum age of eligibility. Every time I run the 1969 draft, Johnny Bench is selected #1. Why have the minimum age if it is ignored by the computer. Is the minimum age only for the original draft from when my team entered the league?:confused:

Maybe you should update to the latest official patch, 12.12, because I've run almost a hundred 1969 expansion draft and it never happened.

I experienced that problem early on (maybe 12.03 or 12.06) but Clay fixed it. The only problem left IMO is that the teams protect too many RP.

Anyway, get 12.12 and you should be ok.

I downloaded 12.12 to no avail. Still selecting 21 year old players despite them being under the minimum allowed age. Any other thoughts?

You're right, it does happen in the second draft. I did an expansion draft in 1962 and simmed to 1969 (minimum age setting = 22). The rule was respected for my expansion draft (1962) but Johnny Bench (21) had to be protected from being picked in the 1969 expansion draft.

Definitely a bug, and an important one for historical players.

I decided to run the draft and then enter commish mode to fix the "illegal" draft choices. Turns out I can't even do this, as the game is ignoring players I unprotect and protect. I've been unprotecting those 21 & under that the game decides need to be protected despite being under the minimum age. When I go to make adjustments for the next round, and again unprotect players, I am told they cannot be unprotected because the were protected in a prior round, even though I specifically went to unprotect before that round. Finally, after letting the game draft whomever it wants, regardless of rules, it will not let me force the trades because the expansion team had the foresight to draft 3 or 4 hitters and trading a pitcher would leave the team with fewer than 14 hitters ?!?!?!?

Don't worry, Clay already fixed some problems with the expansion draft, and I'm sure he'll work this one out too. It's been a long time since the last update, so I guess he'll post a 12.14 shortly. Hopefully it will include this bug...

You're probably right. I looked at how long it has been since the last update and figured he was done. Maybe if there are enough people with this problem we can get it fixed in an update in the near future. I'm going through withdrawl being stuck for a week now and don't feel like starting another game if I am going to get stuck at the expansion drafts anyway.

I'm bumping that one again because I ran into the same problem and found it really annoying having to protect a 21 yrs old guy when I set the min age at 22. If it's not taken care of in this year's edition, I hope it'll be fixed for BM2k11 along with the other Expansion Draft problems.
