Another discussion i was having elsewhere reminded me to post this.
This past 4th of July the wife & I, for the first time I can recall, had no parties to go to. The family picnics were on the 3rd & the 5th..and we had the 4th open. We decided to take my 2.5 year old to the beach (hammonasett in CT). We were shocked when we got there to see what was happening. It was little havana....hundreds maybe thousands of latinos were there spending the day tailgating in the large parking lots, many not even partaking in the beach. They brought booze, the grills, radios etc. and it was a massive party of which we were invited to by many. Strangers enjoying each others company....and the wife and I looked at each other and said "now this is cool". why aren't americans this inviting and outgoing and celebratory of our independance which wasn't that long ago. we didn't stay for the evening though i have no doubt they brought plenty of fireworks.

Unfortunatly, this sounds like many families today.

Depends if you put quotes around it or not (http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Latino%27s+do+it+better%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a). Otherwise it will pull up results with just one of the words.

American culture is not the same as other cultures where people...you know...basically like and trust each other.
indeed...

I go to a party every 4th of July held by a Hispanic/Latin/Mexican family. Everyone is invited to bring along their friends, and new people from that neighborhood stop by every year. It is a very enjoyable on many levels.

Yah, the latino culture really makes a dent when you're dating/living with a spanish chick. Or when you visit South America. So much of how they do things is so much more carefree, openly loving, giving....heck, they're a lot nicer than your average suburbanite white folk. And they love meeting new people, always. It's a great outlook.
After spending a few weeks in Colombia, you begin to see the US as a slew of scared, unhappy, self-absorbed Paxil takers in comparison. Well, some people anyway.

Reminds me of the Portuguese here in Cali, a good loving group. Always inviting me to parties just to hang out and have fun.
