Please excuse a short venting to start....
I have been buying this game yearly since the beginning, and have always been pretty happy. However, Baseball Mogul 2010 is turning out to be a major disappointment....I know any program is bound to have bugs here and there- but this one- wow....
I have three major issues here:
1. Program sometime crashes exiting commissioner mode. This usually happens when trying to edit a player immediately after free agent signing. I make whatever changes I deem necessary- hit refresh to check my changes (also see issue 2)- and when I hit "done" to leave the edit mode- the program becomes unresponsive, and Windows closes it. This also happens at random at other times as well- I have come to the point where I always save the game before I make changes- just in case.
2. This is in commissioner mode as well- the program sometimes changes any edits I've made. I'll go through and change what I want- and what happens is the game changes to what it wants to, regardless of what I want. This is pretty constant.
The two above issues are things I can live with- but it's #3 here that kind of pushed me over the edge.
3. The expansion drafts are nightmares! I just went through one that pushed me over the edge here! It was a 1969 draft. First of all, it didn't ask me whether I wanted to add teams, or automate the draft...it just informed me it was adding the four appropriate teams. Fine with that- but the game then proceeded to really foul things up:
1. The Seattle Pilots got 11 batters and a full pitching roster
2. The San Diego Padres and Montreal Expos got each 1 batter and full
pitching rosters.
3. The Kansas City Royals got no batters, but full pitching.
Now I've seen something to that effect before with this game...earlier drafts would give 14 batters and full pitching, but the rest of the players would appear- usually by the time the amateur draft occurred.
This time however, I never got that far. Admittedly I was playing what I call an "enhanced team"- yes, I modified the players, using the available protocols..., and I simmed through 3 games....and was beaten three times with negative scores for my team (one of the scores was -64 to 0!)- and when viewing the box score- they were didn't add up (I had one player on my team showing he hit nine home runs in six at-bats, but had only 1 RBI)- and nothing else made any sense.
There are a few other little things I could complain about- but nothing I can't live with.
Has anyone else had any experience with the game going nuts like this? I'm just about ready to re-load 2009.....
For the record- running version 12.12 on Windows Vista Basic......
