The body of a 22-year-old man was found Thursday on the family ranch of Braves third baseman Chipper Jones.

The man's body was discovered around 6:30 a.m. by a foreman on the Carriso Springs, Texas, ranch, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Larry Jones Sr. notified police and then contacted his son.

He said the man is believed to have entered the country illegally and may have been overcome by heat-related illness. Southwest Texas has been immersed in scorching heat, with Thursday the 83rd straight day of temperatures topping 100 degrees.

The Carrizo Springs police could not be reached for comment Thursday evening, the paper reported.

The Jones family has owned the 10,000-acre ranch since 2000. Chipper Jones visits the ranch several times a year during the offseason and for Thanksgiving, his father said.

Not that weird if it was an immigrant who died from the heat. That kind of stuff happens more often than you would think.

The thread title's a little misleading, though, in that it's not Chipper's ranch. It's his father's.

So if you look at how many pro athletes there are, and then how many relatives of pro athletes that means... odds are that stuff is going to happen on their property occasionally.
