i need it for taking to visit with clients. build spreadsheets, work on word, powerpoint etc, and maybe play the occasional mogul game.....and i don't want to spend much on it.

I really don't know anything about it. He's going to show it to me today after school. I can give you more detail then.

I have one as a second (or third) computer. A Toshiba with 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive, running Windows XP. I picked it up about a month ago to use for travel and a few other things - they are cheap so I thought I would give it a shot. Also, it is around 2.5lbs, so I can throw it in my bag and hardly even notice that it is there. So far, it has been great. I don't run a ton of programs on it - but I usually have e-mail, Firefox and a word-processing program running at the same time and I don't notice any problems. I occasionally run Excel or Powerpoint at the same time - without noticing anything.
My only advice - if you know how, or feel like exploring a little bit, turn off all the extra stuff that starts up with Windows. Programs like Acrobat or music players often run a background program waiting to activate the actual program - they are almost entirely useless and should be turned off if you have limited memory. Also, I assume you'll want Antivirus software - find something that runs very light.

cool! thank you! i wouldn't want it for anything other than basic needs while with clients. It would be an extra computer only. since they are only like 200 bucks a piece, i figure it'll be worth the shot. thanks kenny!

XP Home to be specific, and it came with MS Works (which is almost entirely useless for my purposes). But because it was bought through work, I had access to our site license for Office. At $200 you won't get a lot of software - if I didn't have access to MS Office for free, I would just be using OpenOffice anyway.
