Hello, I've been gone from these forums for a few months but I'm back to try a dynasty again. Hopeufully I can keep this going this time...
I will be using
-HoustonGM's opening day rosters
-Slightly modified league settings
-Mizerak's Negotiator
-Fair rules- I definitely hate ripping off the AI.
So without further ado, I give you:

FLUSHING FLASH
After an exhausting process, the Wilpons have named their new GM.
IT IS NONE OTHER THAN FAMOUS PITCHMAN BILLY MAYS!
http://www.topsocialite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/billy-mays-dead.jpg
HI, BILLY MAYS HERE FOR THE NEW YORK METS! Now I'm not going to try to fix this team with just MIGHTY PUTTY (although it would work), we're going to dig for talent using the AWESOME AUGER! And while we're at it, we can clean the team and make it smell great with ORANGE GLO BILLY MAYS BILLY MAYS BILLY MAYS!
As Jeff Wilpon managed to steal the microphone from Billy, he announced that Bud Harrelson would be named as assistant GM, probably just to pull Billy away from the mic.

HI! BILLY MAYS HERE FOR THE NEW YORK ME--- OOF
Hey, I'm Bud Harrelson, and not insane. Here are the lineups.
LINEUP
1. Jose Reyes (SS, 25 years old) What can I say? Along with David Wright, he is the franchise. As stated above, he has too much power to lead off, however, and he definitely won’t be leading off next year.
2. Luis Castillo (2B, 33 years old) I like Luis, but the contract given to him after the 2007 season is a bit too excessive. As long as I get decent numbers out of him, I will be pleased.
3. David Wright (3B, 26 years old) Amazing player. He will be manning the hot corner for a long time here in Flushing.
4. Carlos Beltran (CF, 31 years old) Plays a great CF, and is a great hitter. I don’t understand why he’s so underrated by Mets fans. Great player.
5. Carlos Delgado (1B, 36 years old) Showed a resurgence last summer after a lackluster 2007 and start of 2008. When he’s hot, he’s unstoppable, but when he’s cold, he can kill the team.
6. Ryan Church (RF, 30 years old) Pretty good outfielder, was white hot last year until he suffered 2 concussions during the season.
7. Jeremy Reed (LF, 27 years old) Former Mariners top prospect, will be in a platoon, along with Church, with Tatis/Sheff. If he can hit righties, he will stay in the lineup, because contact hitters are good at the bottom of the order.
8. Brian Schneider (C, 32 years old) GREAT defensive catcher, and that is a very important quality in catchers, for me at least. Will catch in a platoon with Castro at about a 70/30 split, with Castro starting mostly against lefties.
9. Pitcher spot
BENCH
1. Gary Sheffield (OF, 41 years old) Will spell Church/Reed against lefties
2. Fernando Tatis (Util, 34 years old) Above ^
3. Ramon Castro (C, 33 years old)
4. Alex Cora (IF, 33 years old)
5. Rob Mackowiak (OF/3B, 32 years old)
6. Argenis Reyes (IF, 26 years old
PITCHING STAFF
1. Johan Santana (30 years old) Another important cog to our success. Johan is the unquestioned ace and is a great pitcher.
2. John Maine (27 years old) Basically stolen from the Orioles in the Kris Benson trade, John has been a great starter in his 3 years in NY and even has some playoff experience.
3. Oliver Perez (27 years old) While I think that he is overpaid, hopefully he can figure it out like he did in 2005. If he can, we can have a deadly rotation.
4. Mike Pelfrey (25 years old) “Big Pelf” While he did struggle in his first few major league starts in 06/07, last year, in 32 starts, he was a great pitcher, and I hope he can do it again.
5. Livan Hernandez (34 years old) I am just hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with this guy. Hopefully in Citi Field he can keep the homers down and do well. He will probably not get 30 starts however because if Santana is rested I will be going back to him in the rotation.
BULLPEN
Closer- Francisco “Frankie” Rodriguez (27 years old) Set the single season save record in 2008, and is a great closer. If he should falter even a little bit, we a have a great replacement in:
Setup- JJ Putz (32 years old) Acquired in a three team deal during the Mets bullpen overhaul, Putz and Frankie look to create the best setup/closer tandem in baseball.
Short- Sean Green (29 years old) I am a big fan of Sean. He was also acquired from Seattle in the same trade as JJ. A strict groundball pitcher, he should do much better here due to our superior defense.
Short- Pedro Feliciano (32 years old) The last remaining member of the 2006 bullpen, Perpetual Pedro can be used as a one inning guy but is better suited as a left handed specialist.
Middle- Darren O’Day (26 years old) A Rule IV pickup, a potentially great pitcher who will be on the hot seat with many possible relievers in the minors.
Long- Casey Fossum (31 years old) While I was leaning toward naming Nelson Figueroa the long man, I decided to award it to Casey, basically just to add another lefty to the pen.

I love the mets, so I'll be reading. Just a few questions-comments.
1. What ya doing with Wags? Is he hurt?
2. Church got 1 concussion in spring training and the other on May 21.
3. Is pagan or keity a better option then rob?

Hey, thanks for the questions!
1. I'm going to take a realistic approach with Wags, and bring him back in August.
2. Ah, yes now I remember.
3. Good call. Pagan will replace Rob for the time being.
Once again, thanks for reading!

OPENING DAY 2009
Johan Santana VS Edinson Volquez
The Reds opened up the scoring in the 2nd with three runs, and it turns out that’s all they needed as the Reds shut out the Mets on Volquez’s 8-inning 11-strikeout 3-hit gem. JJ Putz pitched a scoreless inning in his Mets debut
POTG: Edinson Volquez- 8 IP, 11 K, 3 BB
L, 3-0
Game 2
John Maine VS Aaron Harang
The Mets won despite being outhit 14-8. They had a comfortable lead of 5-2 until Pedro Feliciano allowed 2 runs and forced Frankie to pitch a 4 out save.
POTG: Carlos Beltran- 3/3, 2 HR, 4 RBI
W, 6-4
Game 3
Oliver Perez VS Bronson Arroyo
Perez lasted only 3.1 innings and Arroyo 5 as the Reds and Mets had a slugfest to end the series. Unfortunately the Mets came out on the bottom.
POTG: CIN Reds offence-11 runs, 2 HR
L, 11-8
Series Record- (1-2)
Season Record- (1-2)
Ryan Church, Carlos Delgado, and Jeremy Reed are definitely underperforming. Church and Reed will be given another series at least to hopefully heat up, and Delgado will be given a bit of a longer leash.
Trades:
Edwin Jackson and Brandon Inge are headed to the A’s in return for Brad Ziegler and 2 P prospects
Adrian Gonzalez and Jody Gerut are headed to the Reds for Brandon Phillips, Ramon Hernandez, Alex Gonzalez, and 3 pitching prospects. Usually I overturn things like this, but it does plug a lot of holes for the Padres and they probably wouldn’t have resigned Gonzalez anyway.
Notable Retirements:
Tom Glavine, P
Great Pitcher, 1st Ballot HOFer.
Tom Gordon, P
Good Reliever, Recorded 46 saves with the ’98 Bosox
Milestones:
Jermaine Dye hit his 300th homer

OOC: How do you like my write-ups? I think that giving a short description and POTG makes you feel more into and understand the players. I’m open to constructive criticism!

Mets (1-2) @ Marlins (1-2)
Game 1
Mike Pelfrey VS Andrew Miller
Another pitiful performance by our pitching, Mike Pelfrey was chased by the fourth as the Marlins won.
L, 10-5
W- Andrew Miller (1-0)
L- Mike Pelfrey (0-1)
Game 2
Johan Santana (0-1) VS Anibal Sanchez (0-0)
A largely ineffective Santana went only 4 innings but the Mets managed to pull out a win due largely to Jeremy Reed’s 3 RBI’s
POTG: Jeremy Reed- 2/5 , 3B, 2 RBI, 2 R
W, 10-7
W- Casey Fossum (1-0)
L- Matt Lindstrom (0-1)
Game 3
John Maine (0-0) VS (Ricky Nolasco 0-0)
FINALLY another good start and, coincidentally, it’s John Maine again. He pitched seven innings while giving up 2 runs, but didn’t get the win as Carlos Beltran drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth.
W, 3-2
POTG: David Wright- 2/2, 2R HR, R
W- Pedro Feliciano (1-0)
L- Matt Lindstrom (0-2)
S- Francisco Rodriguez (2)
Series (2-1)
Overall (3-3)
A good series to redeem ourselves, we need to carry this momentum back to New York for the opening of Citi Field!
Also, Paul Konerko of the CHW hit his 300th home run just 3 days after Jermaine Dye.

Mets (3-3) VS Padres (1-5)
GAME 1
Oliver Perez (0-1) VS Chris Young (0-1)
Oliver Perez pitches 8 shutout innings and the Mets offense explodes as they win 13-0 in the first game at Citi Field.
W, 13-0
POTG: Oliver Perez- 8IP, 5 Hits, 8K, 0 BB
W- Oliver Perez (1-1)
L- Chris Young (0-2)
GAME 2
Mike Pelfrey (0-1) VS Kevin Correia (0-0)
Another blowout, with our third dominant start in a row by Mike Pelfrey, who went 7 innings and allowed only 2 runs, leading the Mets to their second consecutive series win.
W, 9-3
POTG: Carlos Delgado- 2/3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R
W- Mike Pelfrey (1-1)
L- Kevin Correia (0-1)
GAME 3
Johan Santana (0-1) VS (Chad Reineke 1-0)
The Mets scored a run in each of the second, third, and fourth, and it turns out that that was all they needed as Santana allowed only 2 runs, giving us our first sweep!
W, 3-2
POTG: Johan Santana- 7IP, 2 ER, 10K
W- Johan Santana (1-1)
L- Chad Reineke (1-1)
S- Francisco Rodriguez (3)
Series- (3-0)
Season- (6-3)
A sweep of the clearly inferior Padres catapulted us into a three-way tie in the NL East with Atlanta and Philadelphia.
Milestones
Jermaine Dye is in the news again as he recorded his 1000th RBI on April 15.
