Hey, folks. Running into some issues with my dynasty concerning the level of the new pitchers coming into the league.

Right now, after last year's draft, I have a large number of pitchers, both historical and fictional, on every team with great potentials - something like 50/87 for all the 18-year-olds. The position players are nowhere near as well rated.

Now I understand that this is a known bug, of a sort, and it can be adjusted in the rookies.ini file.

Here are the problems and issues.

1. Does rookies.ini control just the number of pitchers coming into the league, or the quality of pitchers coming in?

2. What should the rookies.ini values be adjusted to in order to have more parity between the pitchers and position players? Set the pitchers to 98 instead? 90? 70? 50?

3. The most pressing issue: is there a way of resetting the peaks of the current players so that I don't have to go around nerfing every pitcher to make sure they don't take over their respective staffs this year?

1. Quality. Quantity maybe as well, but definitely at least quality.

2. (in BM2007 at least) I brought mine down to 90 to start, then 85 later. That helped correct the issue of too much good pitching (partially - it's still being felt years later, actually, but mainly 'cuase I simmed 4-5 years first). 85 is actually an overcorrection - next draft you'll notice pitchers are picked last, with pretty poor ratings. My game still has too many catchers coming in (esp. since a team can have like 4 max in the minors), so I'm editing that rookies.ini file just about every post-season now.

I just had to do something, because every team it seems has guys rated 82+ in AAA that aren't getting any playing time. Except, of course, those bad AI teams that just throw all 71's out there regardless of their money in the bank. Ah, BBM.

3. no clue, sorry. I think manual is the only way.

Nice new sig, btw.

Cool, thanks. Okay, I'll try 90 for the pitchers. Here's the next question: if I have to do it manually, any clue on how to nerf these super-pitchers up? Preferably a quick and dirty method? There's always just getting into their predicted stats on Commish Mode and hitting the minus button a few times, but that doesn't seem to diminish their peak ratings! They go from 61/85 to something like 49/83. I ended up having to reduce their potential down to something like 35 or 40; that got their peak down to about 71.

You can also make their peak start earlier. That means they'll stop improving earlier and thus attain a lower rating.
