In my 1978 season, Dallas (3rd in NFC East) and Atlanta (2nd in NFC West) were both 10-6 and tied for the fifth and final playoff spot (a wild-card berth). Dallas beat Atlanta in the regular season, but the playoff berth went to Atlanta, presumably before Atlanta had an 8-4 NFC record to Dallas' 7-5.
While in real life, the conference record would have been used if the two teams had not played each other, head-to-head should have trumped it in this case and the playoff spot should have gone to Dallas.
Might want to check the tiebreaker AI logic on this one.
