View Full Version : [12.12] Player ratings consistently improve after injury (possibly not a bug?)

This is very weird. The past 5 or 6 times I've had a player get injured, his overall rating has spiked immediately upon being injured (which is kind of annoying because I have to wait to use my new and improved player). The first time I saw it happen, I thought it was a funny coincidence. Now I'm wondering if it's just crazy luck seeing the same coincidence 5 or 6 times in a row.

Some background that might help: At the end of the previous year (1902) I made a mistake of signing Jack Chesbro (93 overall for about 10k/year, which is a lot for that time). As a result, the only way I could avoid negative income was to set all expenses to $1,000. I played for a while hoping it wouldn't make too much of a difference, and then about 2/3 of my players, simultaneously, experienced a 1-2 point drop in their overall ratings. A week later, two of my star players lost 7 points in their overall rating. I realized this was really bad and I basically gave away Jack Chesbro to another team since no one would trade for him (despite his rating he was ERA 6+) to free up money. I was able to raise my expenses back up a bit.

I'm wondering if this might have something to do with it. I expected players ratings to recover slightly after correcting my expenses. But it seems like injury is what is triggering the recovery, and in some cases the recovery is quite extreme. I had a pitcher at 70 jump to 80, a declining 72 become an 80, and best of all, my home run king Buck Freeman went from 80 to 91. All of these happened on the day they were injured. There have been a couple others that have gained 4-6 points of overall rating upon injury.

My guess is that after you lowered your scouting expense to $1,000, over time your scouting became worse and worse. Half way threw the year your scouting isn't very accurate because you have no money going into it, making it look like your players are varying a lot when it's actually only the scouting.

Check and make sure your scouting is accurate.
