Thank god there are still people doubting the Phillies. How many postseason series do we have to clobber teams in to get some respect? Whatever, we've been underdogs in the eyes of the media and most fans the past two years anyway.

We crushed him in the playoffs last year. The only one of our hitters that struggles against lefties is Howard. Utley hit .288 against lefties this year (higher than his .279 against righties) and had 11 of his 31 homers against southpaws. Ibanez hit .285 vs. lefties (.267 vs. righties) with 13 homers. Werth crushes lefties (.302, 14, 37 in 149 AB).

Because I think they are the better team, I think that they will beat the Phillies.

Of course, it's a 7 game series, so anything can happen and I would not be surprised at all if the Phillies win.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with the fact that the playoffs, being short series, are wildly unpredictable. My predictions followed the same basis I used above - I picked the best team. Of course, in most of these cases, the best team was barely better than the other team, and they were close enough to essentially be equal. The only instance where there was a significant gap in quality was the Yankees/Twins. Every other series the teams were all very good and very well-matched. In that case, it really is essentially a coinflip.

But, now, I see that you picked the Yankees to beat the Phillies as well ;).

but in seven games, anything can happen, it isn't always the best team that wins, it's often the team that excutes on the other team's mistakes the most and play with as few flaws as possible.
