ALL,
I'm kind of disappointed in the few playbooks offered in this year's version (Football Mogul 2010). Post on this thread with ideas for new playbooks or post ones that you have created.
Attached is a playbook that I have mod'ed from the default one. It only varies in the inside running folder; this is just a beginning, but an example of what we can do with this thread.
Thanks

I've attached a link to a Sendspace file of some of my 'custom built' playbooks, offense and defense.
These were made with Football 2009. But they 'seem' to transfer just fine into 2010. (Reset the stats before you run with them... I didn't clear them before I copied them.)
I'm trying to remember them here, but here goes:
Detroit is 'smash-mouth' football... ala the Alex Karrass, and Purple-People-Eaters, black 'n blue division era... I've picked my offense to be strong running game first, straight ahead, and a good passing game. Defense is 4-3, with some 3-4. (I've played them nearly 50 seasons now, and bagged 21 Super Bowl Rings... get good blockers, solid big back, and QB who can hit the short pass: 'get the 1st down' type pass, and just keep charging...)
The 49ers offense is 'West Coast run 'n shoot' style. I experimented with passing attack, and split it a bit more between quik-hitters, and medium passes... higher percentage completions, and then let the receivers do the rest. I included some diferent options for a deeper ball. There's so many ways to go deep, but it's too easy to get sacked if that's all it is. I got Jonathan Stewart (out of Oregon, since I'm a Duck too!), and he's now run for over 19,000 yards... yep... 19k+. I spread 'em all over the place, run, throw, go for it on 4th down... it's flashy, and witht he right guys, effective...
The Titans I've fiddled with a lot... that book is probably a mis-mash of basics, and experiments.
The Ravens book, I think? is more pass happy than a running game. But I forget that one.
the 'Fav' offense/defense books are the ones I use often, for just about any team. I like 3-4 WR, and a FB who can run/catch... I spread the ball around a alot, so that works. And the defense is solid for a lot of teams. The trick, as always, is to make the right call at the right time. Make 'em earn it.
Some of these plays were from the SM books, both default, and example books. Some plays (mostly med/long pass) were from other sources. I did some looking on the web for 'schemes', but didn't get far. (Seems most wanted to sell you their book, rather than share generic plays.) I tried to find some plays from the Bears when they played a 6-4-1 defense, and won the Super Bowl. But I couldn't find a set of plays based on that. A friend used to run a 6-1 scheme, and blitz off it a lot, so it was real hard to tell just what the heck his defense was gonna do.
So, have at. And If I get a team in a league, don't be surprised if you see a few plays not on the list!
