Please make an option to tell the computer to never substitute for a player (unless injured). It's tiresome to see my best hitter (cleanup) replaced by a sub .200 hitter that doesn't even play the position! Check out box score at

where Baker replaced Landau. Baker mainly is a catcher according to the scouting report.

Is it fair to say that a starting player will never be replaced during a game (unless injured) by a bench player with a worse fielding rank? I'm assuming the in-game scout sees the same ratings I see on the scouting report, too.

Playshogi,

I am sorry for the inconvenience. Please tell me what league this is in, so we may take a look at your problem. Thanks!

I am playing in the GM Baseball League as St. Louis.
I've cited the actual box score in my previous post.

I hope some tweaking is done to the AI manager. I think far too many intentional walks are given often 2 or 3 in an inning just because 1B is open. It seems to be automatic on the AI's part.
1B open? Y close game? Y --> intentional pass.

Workaround: Get a catcher with A+ arm, so 1B isn't open so often :) Please confirm this is a valid strategy.

(By the way, I've NEVER seen a double play after an intentional pass, (never even a fielder's choice to get the lead runner, either) usually they come around to score. (Admittedly, I have a poor team :) ))

Defensive substitutions. close game? Yes bench player better fielder than regular? Yes --> make substitution.

Workaround: always make sure bench player is weaker in fielding so there will never be any defensive substitutions.

Please confirm this is a valid strategy.

I see most of the blown saves in the league follow same pattern...
out, out, double, intentional walk, 3 run hr to win game by 1.
No way would a manager put the game winning run at the plate with the game on the line. This has happened to me on numerous occasions, sometimes walking the #2 or #3 batter to get to the #3 or #4 hitter???

Thank you for your feedback. I'll send this to Clay, and hopefully we can improve the AI in the future based on your suggestions.
