I don't care how many holes Tiger put it in, and I don't care how many shots it takes a grown man to put a ball in a hole

how about..................
we just leave him alone?
Let him do what he wants, he doesn't owe us anything, as fans, or citizens of America who know who he is.
Just let him do what he wants, sebatacle, retire, play, whatever he wants, it's his life, it should be his choice. I find it irritating that everyone with an opinion on the matter seems to think they need to speak as though he is actually listening. Give the guy some time, let him do whatever he wants, and I bet in 5-10 years from now, people will have basically forgotten, they did with Kobe.

He dosen't owe the public anything,
but Tiger is a multi-millionaire because he sold himself, the public is a consumer of Tiger, he is a product and as a product people will pick it apart as they wish.
He can't hide behind the "I want privacy" with one hand and hold the other hand out for money based on himself.
He spent years and years cultivating a public image, from his very first scripted corparate shill "Hello, world" line up untill the 'day". So he can't try to act indignant when he wants when the exact method that gave him millions of dollars turns on him.

Plus it's funny.
Also it's true: if you care about your public image, which Tiger obviously did before this, you're going to have to go through this afterwards. If he wants to stay a public figure after this he is going to have to answer questions.
Like gyryhaf1 said, you can't use your public image for money and then just ignore the bad parts.

I agree for the most part. He's obviously going to have to work much, much harder to get back to where he was, and not just with his corporate sponsors, but in the "eyes of his fans". At the same time, hopefully people will leave him alone now. I can do without the helicopter footage of him getting in an SUV or without the pictures of his motorcade driving in. And if it's true that the paparazzi followed his child to school and even published the location, that's despicable. Obviously, many of the things he did were despicable, but like he said, that's for him and Elin to work out. I won't serve as an armchair character commentator since I'm nowhere close to perfect myself. He knows what he has to do now, and I'm sure he'll work toward that. I have no concern for Tiger Woods since he can take care of his own problems, so I don't have to talk about them anymore.

he doesn't owe anyone but his family anything. The BIGGEST WHORES in this whole thing is the media. They love this sh!t. They are making this the story it is, pulling their Brett Favre playbook and using it to extremes. Whats going on today, all the media spending 3/4 the day making this "apology" larger than any issue in the world is deplorable.
Why doesn't the public ever take issue with the media on this type of gossip crap? Easy answer.....its because the media molds the story so that it could never get to that point.
I'm exhausted with it all. Enough Tiger Woods. Only the media can make a guy like this look like a victim.

This.
And what dickay said.
Tiger can do whatever the **** he wants. If he wants to play golf, he can play golf. If he wants to retire and go on a speaking tour about the dangers of sex addiction then he can do that. I don't care, it's Tiger's life. All I know is, the PGA needs Tiger.
I'm an example of their ratings drop myself. Last year, I WATCHED the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Why? Because Tiger was playing. I watched every major. Why? Because Tiger was playing. I won't watch any of those this year if Tiger doesn't play.

The more notable you are, the bigger news it is when you do something stupid.
Every article published in our local paper for example...if you are someone of reputable name, and get arrested or do anything stupid...........bam...........front page news............if you are just some idiot that no one really knows, it goes in the police report and that is it.
a couple of our college football players got in a brawl and were given assault charges.....front page news about every little thing in the kids lives for 10 days.
tuesday a local lawyer apparently assaulted his wife........biggest news in the god damn world I guess....but the 2 other assault charges in the police report go in there without a word, but bc the lawyer was well known, it gets plastered.....be careful how much fame you get I guess.

Oh please, the Sex addiction thing is total ********. He's not addicted to sex anymore than anyone else is.
I mean this was a guy that was dubbed Urkel by his college golf team ..
That mean he was a geek by the standards of guys who play golf at Stanford.
He was just a geek that became super rich and famous and found he could get it where ever he wanted --

The only proven way for true alcoholics to recover is when the alcoholism is treated like a disease. Treat the symptoms and not the disease directly. A disease never completely goes away. A person can live a long life with a disease, but only with proper monitoring and treatment of the symptoms. The same is true of alcoholism.

We disagree on this point Jeffy. However I think people who will get upset over that need to find something else to do with themselves. I have found that disagreeing with somebody is stress-free. Making a big deal out of disagreements leads to way more stress than I need.

I despise the media as much as the next guy, but they're only being that way, because THAT'S WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT. Yes, not you or me personally, and not the majority of this forum (I hope). But we're in the minority, and we have to understand that. Other people are not like us, and it's difficult to accept that fact sometimes. The public doesn't care enough to make this an issue and consider Tiger Woods or his family, because they're too enamored in the situation. It's why gossip sites like TMZ and Perez Hilton are two of the most popular websites in existence. We "have to know" everything about these people. It's some innate voyeurism on our parts, whether they're on top of the world or whether we're watching them fall apart. And it's why ESPN will always feature the Red Sox and Yankees more than they do the Pirates or Rays. Not because of the larger markets, but because love or hate those teams, we "need" to read everything about them to further justify our love or hate for them. The only way this will ever change is if one by one, we stop ourselves from caring so much, and simply TUNE OUT.
But that will never happen.

Alcohol addiction is a disease according to the major medical bodies in America.
and there are also many in the field that dispute this and feel that the AMA and such medical bodies had certain agendas in mind when creating this "disease theory". Regardless, I am of the opinion its not a disease and such classification is more harmful than helpful. By taking away personal responsibility, you give an alcoholic an excuse.
But thats about all i'm going to say on the issue.

In my personal experience, addiction is a personality trait. I've seen drug addicts who reform through God and become addicted to the church and such (and then I saw him become addicted to music and buy a 5k Gretsch guitar and start writing music).
Whitlock's column is one of the stupidest things I've ever read, and considering the crap that's been posted on this forum, that's saying a lot.
Personally, I would have loved to see Tiger say, "It looks like my wife's not going to forgive me. Therefore I have nothing to lose and that lets me be free to nail anything that moves. So,. guys, when the PGA tour comes to your town, lock up your wives and daughters. Maybe your mothers and grandmothers, too, just to be on the safe side."
