I think this game has great potential but we are missing some essential tools of a GM. Some team reporting is severly needed. Right now I can't even tell where my team ranks in run scored or runs allowed. I think on the leaders board you could have a team totals list. This way I can tell if I am lacking power or batting average and so on. Right now it you have to look at each player in the lineup and guess how well you stack up. Also a simple report with all your team ratings would help greatly. Let us know if this is ever going to be in the game. I think you would have winner if you added these simple reports.

I agree, and suggested that a "Scouting Report" with all of the ratings and comments would be a good addition. Curently, if you want to scout another team, you have to go to that team, and look at each player individually to get a sense of what the scouts think.

However, I think that that will probably wait until this incarnation is running without any glitches. I'm sure the first priority is to get the existing frame work running so that they can start making some money off of it :D

After that, revisions can be made to tweak the reporting system, etc.

I agree they need to get the existing framework going. It is just starting to annoy me that I can't find the simplest thing in the world which is where do I rank in run scoring or runs allowed. How can any GM manage a team not even knowing that?

I think that in the standings report it would be more useful to show each team's runs scored per game as opposed to batting average (which is only a marginally accurate indicator). Maybe instead of batting average and ERA it could show runs for and runs against (either totals or per game).

Come to think of it, comprehensive reports would be an excellent feature that could be accessed exclusively by paying customers, while still allowing free gameplay at a most basic level (ie, the one we're at right now)

I've owned previous versions of Baseball Mogul and I downloaded the current demo (to use until my new full version arrives). All the reports that are available are not great - the stats you get are not as good as some other games (although the financial information is far superior to anything else I've found - there's considerably more information available in the games you purchase than in the online version.

And although the reports are better online, I do enjoy being able to play against some real people. Although not everyone in my leagues is active, it is better to play against some real people instead of just out-thinking the computer in the "at home version."

Yes. We will be adding many of the reports you mention.

Some are already in Baseball Mogul 2002 (CD-ROM) and just need to be ported over. For example: Runs Scored, Runs Allowed, any many more financial and "baseball" stats.

Other reports are still being considered.

For example, when you say "Team Ratings" do you mean a screen that might let you compare areas like the following (for each team)?

Starting Pitching: A-
Bullpen: B+
Infield Defense: C+
Outfield Defense: B-
Hitting for Average: B
Hitting for Power: C-
Bench: D

Thanks,

Clay

It would be great if there was a screen like that...so great...

I think they meant something more along the lines of:

Team A

Runs scored: 13th in the league
Runs allowed: 11th
HRs: 18th
2Bs: 12th
3Bs: 7th
SBs: 3rd

etc

I could be wrong, but this is what immediately popped into my head as I read the initial posts.

Actually, something more like the "Leaders" sortable stats, except for the team statistics. :D

Also, a single page that lists all of the scouts rankings for each team:D

What do you know!

The players search function does exactly what I was asking for, allowing you to sift out players and get reports either by team, or by position.

There is the scouting report that I was looking for.

Then you can cross reference that with the "Leaders" report for a very accurate picture of the talent that is out there.

And, it's probably been there all along......
