Well I was wondering if anyone has tried Matt Morris as a starter because well he is labled as a reliever and has no rating for endurance. How did he do?
Or have you tried any other reliever w/ no endurance rating as a starter. And how did they do?
Thanx

I have not tried using MM as a starter. I used him strictly as a reliever, and he did OK.

. He lasted three innings and got shelled. I don't think that you can use a guy with no endurance as a starter and hope to get many innings from them.

Is there any way that Matt Morris can be fixed for new leagues? It's obvious that the game is going off of his previous year's stats, where he worked out of the bullpen. If maybe it could take his career numbers into account. I don't know. But if this game is supposed to start out emulating the current season, Matt Morris needs to be made a starting pitcher, not a reliever.

Then John Smoltz needs to be made into a reliever. John Burkett needs to be made into a quality starter. I'm sure we could site many things that have changed this season including position changes, roles on the pitching staff, status of injuries, trades, quality of play, and players aging.
Most of our favorite players will be retired after 10 sim'd seasons, the rookies will be gone in 20 or so sim'd seasons. The game is a macroscopic look at baseball, not a microscopic one.
Asking for one player to be adjusted to his current quality of play and role is asking that every player be adjusted and doing all that would make it Baseball Mogul 2k3.

What I don't understand is Tim Wakefield's D+ endurance rating, when really he can throw more innings than anyone else in baseball.

I'm pretty sure that teh players data base will be updated annually - to reflect the past years results. You cannot really ask for much more than that.

I think he was used(mainly) in relief in 2000 which may account for his lower rating. I do understand what you arre saying though, because i remember him starting a game and going about 6 or 7 innings then pitching in relief and going about 2 innings just two days later last year. So yeah his rating probably should be higher.
Yeah he was used mainly in relief in 2000. However, he's been a guy that'll be in the rotation and still be able to come out of the bullpen in between starts if necessary.
I guess if you rate his endurance based on ip/g rather than on actual scouting or knowledge of the game, D+ is accurate based on 2000. But I'd like to think some actual thought would go into it.
