Cleveland Indians at California Angels
May 4, 1993
TOP OF THE FIRST
Jim Abbott takes the mound for the Angels.
Kenny Lofton reached first on a throwing error by the third baseman. <--1>
Carlos Baerga grounded to third for a double play (5-4-3). <--->
Manny Ramirez homered to right-center. <--->
Jim Thome struck out. <--->
1 run, 1 hit, 1 error, and 0 left on base.
In the middle of the first, Cleveland leads 1 to 0.
In the pbp stats for the sp it saids it's a unearned run. I'll tell you if it does in his player card stats after the game.

If true, it's a shame that Clay endorses such unjust occurrences.

Unless I'm missing something I thought that'd be an unearned run
A run is counted as unearned when:
"A batter reaches base on an error (including catcher's interference), and later scores a run in that inning by any means. "

The batter that reached on an error was wiped out in the double play. I think the logic that the game is using is that there are two outs in an inning where an error allowed someone to reach base. Usually any runs scored with two outs in an inning where there was an error would be unearned. However, I think if the error was cleaned up by a following double play, especially one that leaves the bases empty, the run(s) scored after that should not be unearned.
I am not sure what the actual rule in the rulebook says about this scenario, though.

Yes the game is calculating unearned runs wrong. Here's an inning I just had with 2 unearned runs:
* Reached on error
* Caught stealing
* Strike out
* Walk
* Home Run
* Out
